Lurker or poster?

I go through phases - somtimes I'm quite a prolific poster and then I can go for days without having anything to say/bothering with the games etc.

I have always found the DIS to be very friendly, unlike a lot of other forums I (used to) frequent. I have to say, though, I don't have any time for people who I don't feel are genuine - and, let's face it, you get quite a lot of them on forums ;)

I think, whether you are a lurker or poster, it's nice to feel that if you do post something then somebody will read it and appreciate it so I always try to thank people if they've offered good advice or said something nice. One of my pet hates is when, often on the UK Trip Planning board, someone will ask a question and a few people will offer up perfectly valid and reasonable responses, then a more regular poster or someone better known will respond and the OP (or someone else) will make a big deal about that person having responded which, in my eyes, almost invalidates and belittles the previous posts. Saorry to ramble on - just thought I'd get that off my chest :)

I agree. I think some people choose not to post very often because of bad manners from other members. I always make sure I'm polite and I expect others to be the same (which they are, mostly! :)).

This really bugs me too. :sad2:

I can't believe that I haven't got round to answering this thread. I can safely say that I am a poster, but as a Moderator I guess I should be :rotfl::rotfl:

I must admit to having the holiday blues rather bad at the moment, so I can't get back into the swing of posting since I got back, but then again between the Girly Weekend, the Summer Exchange and posting my trip report, time seems to be just passing me by

I am so sorry to see that some people aren't posting as much as they used to due to it not being as friendly or as safe as it used to be, I wish I could put that right for you, though it's great to see some DISers who have been quiet recently responding to this thread :)
