I think, whether you are a lurker or poster, it's nice to feel that if you do post something then somebody will read it and appreciate it so I always try to thank people if they've offered good advice or said something nice. One of my pet hates is when, often on the UK Trip Planning board, someone will ask a question and a few people will offer up perfectly valid and reasonable responses,
then a more regular poster or someone better known will respond and the OP (or someone else) will make a big deal about that person having responded which, in my eyes, almost invalidates and belittles the previous posts. Saorry to ramble on - just thought I'd get that off my chest
