Hi yall. Im Jessica. I live in a small town just south of Louisville KY.

I have been lurking for MONTHS and thought Id give it a shot and say hi. Im a little scared, lost (how do I put a pretty in my signature or view my own profile??) and unsure of how to do what but I might as well get started somewhere. Forgive me if I mess up! :)

Long story short: Plane leaves at dark o'clock Sunday October 5 and we leave at past bedtime o'clock on Friday October 10th.

Isaacs 7th birthday is Friday October 3 and we will be having a small get together, but I have a personalized cake meeting us at Sci Fi Sunday night and a lot of goodies planned for him throughout the week. SO EXCITED!

I have been to WDW twice, 96 & 98. One for a school band competition and the other time with a friend and her family.

My son doesnt see his father and I have worked so hard all year to pay this trip off and save up for the most magical trip! He is all boy, a Star Wars FANATIC and wonderful.
Im having back surgery soon after we get back, and Ill be laid up 6-8 months so I wanted to make his 7th birthday a big one.

My sister, Anna, who is 23, married and momma to Kennedy 18 mo., has never been to WDW and I always left her crying to go with me. I said if I ever went back she would be with me. Her hubby has been and when I asked him if she could go he said he didnt mind and he wanted her to go. Our parents would help juggle Kennedy while we were gone since everyone wanted Anna to experience it first without a baby.

I absolutely cannot wait to see the look of awe on their faces. :yay:

Anywho, I wanted to get to introduce myself. I have been reading DIS nonstop since booking my trip in Jan. 08. :surfweb: I have learned a lot, laughed a lot and seen some wonderful families enjoying themselves through trip reports. I even booked my ADRs based off of a strangers opinion(s).

I would like to thank everyone for all the great things here. I apologize for the length of this post. (I gotta big mouth and I tend to get windy.)

WELCOME!!! I'm from KY also, Louisville.

Hope you have a great trip and I'm jealous yours is next week. ;) We are taking my daughter for the first time (she will be 5) in March. We started planning it last March, but now we are finally below the 6 month mark.

Thank you so much! I remember that 6 month mark. LOL! We're not far from each other at all!

Jessica,

Fellow Kentuckian and Louisvillian saying hi. You're going to WDW next week--I'm so jealous! Have fun.

Shout out for Bardstown!! WOOHOO!!

We live 2 hrs south however currently pastor a church in Bardstown (yes we drive back and forth). DH is in the process of getting a job transfer. We absolutely love Bardstown!

We also just returned from WDW on Sunday, stayed for a week, and had the BEST time. We won Dream Fastpasses at the first park we visited (AK 9 am Sat morning) on the first ride (Dinosaur)...that of course started our week off
magically!!

I wish you lots of pixiedust: for your upcoming trip!!

p.s. For the Star Wars fanatic there is a great Star Wars Jedi Training Academy outdoor show at Hollywood Studios next to Star Tours. They pick some of the kid's to join them onstage to fight Darth Vader. Very Cool!

HELLO! I seriously said, "shut up!" when I read this. lol. How cool!

I hope he gets picked for the Jedi training. I have been praying for that all year long. =P *fingers crossed*

The Jedi Academy show comes on several times a day. We sat at Backlot Express a few days, ordered lunch, and watched the show a few times. He will absolutely LOVE this show! The kids learn practice moves (with light sabers) against Darth Vader. They hand pick the kid's at random closest to the stage so make sure when visiting Hollywood Studios (I still call it MGM) your kiddo is in FULL Star Wars gear (t-shirt/hat) for greater chances of being picked!

OH AND DONT FORGET pick up "First Time Visit" and "Birthday" Pins for your family/son at either your Disney resort or the front of the parks. Wearing these will definitely help get you a little special magic. Although my daughters birthday was the week before we went to WDW we still had booked this vacation to celebrate her birthday. Most of the CM's made a special point to greet her with a "Happy Birthday Princess", one CM personally had Goofy call her, she received 2 special trader pin's that cannot be purchased at Disney stores, most restaurants gave her birthday desserts with candles, and a few of the character restaurants gave her birthday cards with all the character's signatures inside.

Talk about MAGIC, we felt it big time this trip!!

THANKS SO MUCH ON THE "EXTRA" INFO!! I knew they had it several times a day but I was wondering if there were "perks" to being picked. Hes already got several Star Wars shirts hes planning on wearing and a Darth Vader hat. I knew he would be wearing on the day of arrival and since MGM (I like calling it that too) he would be wearing on. I wasnt gonna make him wear his hat because he gets hot wearing it because hes got a lot of curly hair but Ill pack it and make sure he wears it for extra noticeability. I just made that word up. lol
Well be front and center and Ill probably throw him towards them when the time comes to be picked. =P Heres hoping!

Oh, how early do they start picking before the show starts? Do you have any idea on that???

I'm also from KY!! We bleed UK blue!! I just wanted to say be careful with your back. One wrong ride could mess up the rest of your trip. Research which ones you should or shouldn't do to preserve yourself! My mom has trouble so I know how hard it can be. Have the best time!!

That is TOO funny, lol!!!

If I remember correctly once the Star Wars music comes on and the actors come out on stage, Obi Wan talks a little and asks for a show of hands and starts picking kids at ramdom.

Another Kentuckian here! As far as Star Wars jedi academy goes..my ds really wanted to be picked last time(actually I think my dh wanted it more!LOL) but he was not picked. :( So....anyway....we are going to do Star Wars weekends next June!!!! Woohoo!! I think that will make up for not being picked last time! LOL
Enjoy the DIS and your trip!!

Hello & THANKS!! I am a die-hard Louisville Cardinal fan. :rotfl: I wont hold being a UK fan against ya though. ;)

Im not worried about riding much, Im into the sights. If a baby couldnt ride it, my tail isnt getting on it. I have struggled to get this far and taken too many precautions to get through to the trip. Thankfully my sister has offered to ride anything DS wants to ride that I cant ride with him.

Hi Jessica... I was born and raised in Kentucky and went to UK. Yeah I saw you are a Louisville Fan.. it's O.K... you still hail from my Birthplace.

THE Dis is a GREAT PLACE and you can pick up a lot of great hints from here.
My favorite was "Renting Points" from a DVC'r and staying at Deluxe accommodations (OKW, SSR, AKV)... at Moderate Prices... maybe even Budget... depending on time of year and how much you rent the points for.

I hang out a lot on the Community Board on a little Thread called "The Focker Watcher's http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1949714

We are a few ladies that Mostly chat about our daily lives, kids, stress... Husbands ....Some days we burn through a LOT OF PAGES :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Just pop over to the last page and say hello.
So unless you have already found a USUAL PLACE.. you are Welcome aboard.
But No Matter where you hang.... it's FUN !!
If you stop by our thread... say hello and tell them some crazy Gal named "Katt" said to check you all out.

We'll also help you with a countdown to your almost here Trip. Or get you some glam in that siggie.
:welcome: "Lurker"

Have a SUPER SUPER Time in Disney and I will pray for GODS HANDS to guide the Surgeon.. on your upcoming back surgery.

Katt
