Watch out! Long time lurker coming out of lurkdom!
I'm a little nervous about doing a PTR. This is my first post ever - so I'm literally jumping in! No putting my toes in the water to feel it out! It's all or nothing!
I think the reason I've never posted on the boards because I don't think I have much to say. I don't think I'm witty or funny. I just lurk around and read witty and funny trip reports. But I'm looking for ideas for my upcoming trip to make it super special for my mom and thought maybe you Disers might be able to help. Please, pretty please?
This is my first ever trip in September. My mom is a second grade teacher so usually our trips our limited to the summer months. When I was younger we went a few times over Spring Break
and maybe one or two times in November over Veteran's Day. So I'm very excited to go in September and be able to experience F&W and MNNSHP!
So what will we celebrate? Why three birthdays of course! My mom is turning 60 two days before we get to Disney and that is our main reason for the trip. But on the 29th, my husband and I will be turning 30 and 28! Yes that's right, we have the same birthday!
Now for some information on us:
Me (27) - I have been a Disney lover all my life. My parents started me young with my first trip to Disneyland when I was about a year old. Growing up, my parents took us almost every year and I probably know the layout of the parks better than I know the streets in my own town. I am a Type A, overplanner who makes spreadsheets to plan my trips (I know, accountants are so cool). I obsess about park hours and dining reservations. I somehow convinced my husband to honeymoon at Disney and then with the help of some pixiedust convinced him to buy DVC in 2006.
DH (29) - My high school sweetheart and partner in crime. DH had only been to Disney a few times before he met me. Since then I think I've doubled his number of trips! He is a go-with-the-flow kind of guy. He will pretty much do anything to make me happy, which is one of the many reasons why I love him
Mom (59) - A kid at heart. She loves Disney and doesn't show a bit of her age (once I hit 10 posts, I will upload a picture and you will see what I mean). She didn't think we were going to Disney in 2009 because my DH and I are going to Japan and told her we didn't have any vacation. So this trip was a surprise! (You'll have to keep reading to see how the surprise went!) She is looking forward to everyone making a big fuss out of her and her Birthday button....and the free desserts.
Sister (24) - My sister is my best friend, but can also drive me crazy!
I guarantee if there is any drama associated with this trip, my sister will be the center of it. She literally thinks she is a princess and wants everything to go her way ALL THE TIME! Let's hope that she can keep her high maintenance ways to a minimum while at Disney. She loves Tigger and Sleeping Beauty and could eat Turkey Legs, Chocolate Bananas, and Dole Whip all day long.
So that is us...the reason this trip was so important for my sister and I to do for my mom is that my dad passed away in 2006 at the age of 59. It was rather unexpected and obviously devastating. We were a little nervous about my mom's 60th birthday because it will be the first year she will surpass how old he was when he died. She had planned on giving him a big 60th birthday and never got to do it and we knew it would be on her mind. So what better to take her mind off of things than a trip to Disney!
