Lunch with an Imagineer

I kust booked lunch with an imagineer for Oct 1 @ the brown derby. it will be me and my dd (14). has anyone done this recently? what can we expect? how long does the lunch usually last? what type of imagineer usally does these lunches? as far as the food, i have seen the menu for brown derby and it seems pretty sophisticated for our tastes and i have some food allergies, should i call ahead of time and advise or do you have choices for your meal? any help would be greatly appreciated

I'm gonna bump this for you because I'm interested in the answers too.

Also, was wondering if anyone knows if this must be booked 60 days before the day you want, or 60 days before arrival, I'm thinking the former but wanted to ask anyways.

I did this back in May. We had an imagineer who did alot of behind the scenes work on several rides. He was very knowledgeable about both DW and DL. Lunch lasted 1 1/2 hours, I believe. The menu you recieve is kind of a mini version of the Derby's menu. I suggest if you have allergies you have them make a note of it and then arrive early and ask to speak to the head chef that day.

We did the lunch last August. The Imagineer was Kathy- don't remember her last name. She was wonderful! She worked on the interior design of the Castle suite and shared alot of details about it. The lunch gave you choices from the Brown Derby menu. I had my 11-yr old son with us. They gave him a kid's choice. It lasted about 1 1/2 hours, and we received a personalized gift which she signed. It was a plate. She took pictures and was not in a hurry to leave.

Anybody done this recently? Our anniversary is November 16 and we're going to be at WDW Thanksgiving week. I'd like to do this as a surprise anniversary gift to my DH. Is it still Monday, Wednesday and Friday? For some reason I was thinking this was only on Wednesday.

how long does the lunch usually last?

Usual length is two to three hours. Mine went close to three hours.

what type of imagineer usally does these lunches?

Different types. The one at my lunch was a structural engineer who worked on ride mechanisms, specifically for Soarin' and Toy Story Mania. She said they sign up to do the lunch and are rotated.

You do not get the full menu. You have a soup, a salad, a choice of three entrees and a choice of two desserts, plus a non-alcoholic beverage. If you have allergies, definitely have that put on your reservation and make arrangements ahead of time so they can have food ready that is safe for you to eat.
