I was just wondering how much of a difference the menu/portion size/cost is between eating somewhere for lunch or dinner. We are paying OOP for all meals and would think we would save some money by making Lunch our TS, but I don't want to miss out on selection and portion size.

Thanks!

Depending on the restaurant there may be almost no differences between the menus or rather drastic differences.

Many times at WDW we eat lunch as our "big" meal of the day and find the portion sizes more than adequate.

Although we are going to be on the dining plan on our next trip, we have planned on a few lunches. I often feel the need to walk my meal off and cannot always do that in the evening. I find the portions to be nearly the same as for dinner.

Enjoy your lunches, they make for a nice midday break.

We usualy eat lunch instead of dinner at parks. Lunch portions are sitll bigger than we need.

herc.

We often do lunch instead of dinner. I agree that you should probably check the menus at the places you are interested in, because some menus are very similar for lunch/dinner, and others seem to have lighter offerings (sandwiches & salads) for lunch. I have found it saves quite a bit of $$ to do lunches, and I have never felt there wasn't plenty of food and choices.

Your best bet is to probably switch it off, doing a couple of dinners and some lunches. We like late lunches so we can relax and get out of the heat for awhile. The restaurants tend to be quieter then, too, although with DDP it sounds like they are always busy!

We haven't found much of a cost difference in many of the TS restaurants, but some of the items offered for lunch aren't offered for dinner, and visa versa. For instance, the Ploughman's Salad at Rose and Crown (huge, and one of our favorites) is only available for lunch. If you have special favorites, check to see if they're on both menus. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the replies so far. I will be sure to check the lunch menus as well as dinner for some of the places I am thinking of suggesting to my family. I also will most likely take dznymom1's suggestion and switch off. It will all depend on where we want to eat and if there is anything special going on there for either lunch or dinner (characters/special meals/ect).
