every year, DH and I can never make up our minds about where to eat lunch at MGM.. so, i am looking for a good counter-service restaurant. any ideas?!!

I am going to try the toy story pizza place this year, at least i think that is what it is,

We'll be at MGM in just a few days (yay!!), and I've decided that our lunch choice will depend on where we are at lunchtime. If we're near ToT/RnRC, we'll go to the Sunset Ranch Market, a collection of counter-service eateries; if we're just getting off the Backlot Tour, we'll try the ABC Commissary; and if we're over by Indiana Jones we'll choose the Backlot Express.

You could try the various options in the Sunset ranch area, which is at the end of Sunset near TOT. There's a few options from burgers , pizzas, fruit & pretzel stall etc. I can't remember everything that's on the menu but I'm sure that they'll be listed on wdwig. It can be ideal if there's a few people wanting different things but you can all sit together. One potential problem with al fresco dining is you might want to escape from the Florida heat or rain.

We like the commissary or backlot express..just depends on what you are hungry for. Backlot..caesar salad, burgers, chicken.
Commissary..excellent other than burger food.

I go for the AC places... anything tastes good in AC after being in the summer heat... =)

Both of those are nice, if I remember right... it's been a long time since we did counter at MGM, we usually do Sci Fi or PT =)

Sherrie, it's called Pizza Planet, and we love it!!!

I've been trying to figure out the same thing. We are staying at the Swan closeby, and will probably spend LOTS of time at MGM since it has our favorite rides.

I've been reading reviews, but most of the counter service (and even a couple of the sit downs) have mediocre reviews at best. We've been to Pizza Planet, loved the atmosphere but not the food. Backlot Express has the best reviews, but it was closed when we were there last (ON JULY 2??)

I'm seriously considering eating at the Boardwalk or even one of the hotel restaurants. We might even take a boat over to World Showcase for some GOOD counter service food.

Backlot Express gets my vote. Something for everyone. Hate the Commissary. Always too crowded and my DH dislikes the food.
