Planning on watching Billy Hill show around lunch but can't find Golden Horseshoe on the menus. Is the food actually from Stage Door Cafe? Are there any other CS close enough to grab for lunch and take into the Golden Horseshoe? (or is that weird?) If we want to watch the 12:15 show, what time do we need to start getting food and getting a seat?

I went on Monday for the 1:30 show. I arrived at 1pm and almost didn't get a seat because the line was so long and the guy in front of me literally took 10 minutes to order a sundae and nothing else. They actually had the sundae in front of him before he even got his money out to pay. I'd say go at least a half hour early if you want to get seats near the front for the show, and maybe even 45 minutes.

Have enjoyed the food in the Golden Horseshoe many times before and during the shows. Chicken and fish items are good but, we like the rootbeer floats the best. Have enjoyed many shows by Billy Hill & the Hillbillies, have never saw the same show twice. Yes, they are diffrent every time. Enjoy....:cool1:

Hi
if you go to the stagedoor care you can order mozzarella sticks and they are delicious. They aren't on the menu but you can still get them. As far as Billy Hill, have one member of your party save a table while you get food.

Hard to do when you're solo, but yeah, this.

the mexican place is right by Golden Horseshoe if you want to grab food there. We bring in food all the time, not weird at all.

This is one of my favorite options, but you do need to get there a bit early. In the peak season the show starts a line more than 30 minutes ahead. The inside are small wodden tables with wooden chairs (saloon style) all situated in rows in front of an elevated stage. There is also a balcony with tables along the rail all the way around.

No seat is really a bad seat. You can see and hear the show quite clearly from anywhere inside. If you are solo, see if you can find a seat near another group and leave a jacket or backpack there and ask them to watch it for you, then go stand in line. That should not be a problem. Whatever you do, decide quickly. I watch people come in and just stand there looking for a table while they all get snatched up. Others rush in and grab a table and then decide they want to get something to eat, only to find the lines getting long. Like most things at DLR, if you know what you want and go for it, you are ahead of the game.

As for the show, while there are differences, there are some things that they seem to do every time. I have never been disappointed in the shows there. During off-season, Billy Hill is not the only act to perform at the GH, so be sure to check the entertainment guide.

Yes, the food is really from the Stage Door Cafe, but there are some items they don't serve inside that you can only get outside, but I'm not sure why that is. You can bring food in from anywhere and eat it there, but we generally prefer to just eat what they serve there.

A sort-of related question.....on either side of the stage there are tables that are sort of private....like box-seating, or being inside a gazebo. We have never been in the Golden Horseshoe during a performance, but have eaten there many times. Are you able to sit at those tables during a show? Or are those tables reserved for DL tour seating or something? If not, I imagine they go fast. Thanks!

We sat there during one of the shows. No special pass, etc was needed. But be for-warned: I ended up being part of the act on stage. I enjoyed it but it was quite an embarrassment to my wife.

Billy hill is moving this summer out of the golden horseshoe. When are you going?

We went earlier this week for an afternoon show. Actually, we did not eat there but just sat and enjoyed the show. I would plan to be there at least a half hour early to ensure a good seat. Luckily we caught the last balcony seats at and we saw that a lot of folks had to stand that did not make it in time. The food options aren't spectacular at the Golden Horseshoe but it's a great place for sundaes and a cool down.
