My pedi is at lunch and won't be answering calls for 40 mins. My 2 year old fell and hit his head and now there is a grape sized lump on the back of his head where he hit it. He cried a little bit but nothing big. He is acting normal and ate lunch, how worried should I be? And yes i am calling the dr as soon as they open.

my ped said as long as its a lump and not a indent and if they are acting normal then they should be fine, just keep a close eye on them.

You said you're calling, he's not unconsious and he didn't throw up, right? All you need to do for now then is ice it 20 minutes on/20 minutes off. I would sit him in front of the tv for it. And make sure you have a paper towel around the ice bag.

Keep an eye on him, but as long as he's acting fine, pupils are normal, didn't lose consciousness, and hasn't thrown up, he should be ok.

My DD did the same thing, but it was her forehead. She ended up with a huge egg sized lump there.

I called the pedi and he asked if she lost consciousness and a few other questions and that she should be fine. Told me to watch for any disorientation, wobbly walking or vomiting.

It's actually good that the lump is protruding outward. You wanna be concerned when it doesn't because that could mean that it is going inward and putting pressure on the brain.

As in single grape?

One comment, get used to it! a bump that little in a year or so won't even get more than an "oh that's to bad want some ice?" and in a couple years won't even be reported!

seriously that is a very small bump and as they grow up they will have many many bumps. I don't even pay attention until they are at least egg size.

if they act different, pass out, feel nauseous, seem sleepy, then you need to have them checked. But your grape size bumps are just part of growing up along with skinned knees, noses, elbows, bruises, and splinters.

This is what I thought.
