Lulu201's Healthy Living Log (comments welcome!)

So Erin, were you able to get up today without caffiene?:p I give you all the credit in the world. I'm down to 1 cup a day, but I won't give that up. Kudos to you. I hope you avoid any headaches. Here's some :wizard: just in case.
Beth

No, no, no, everybody. Stop! Think! This is ME you're talking to
(oh, and it really is me, even though it says lulu202. Lulu202 is me at work because I can't figure out how to post unless I use this other name. At home I have AOL, but for some weird reason, I'm unable to email or post this week. Like I said, weird.)--and I haven't given up caffeine! :p I just stopped "the IV drip" that I was using all last week. Seriously, I was drinking coffee or coke from the minute I woke up until 7:30 at night to get me through some very long days. By the weekend I was pretty wound up (as some of you lovingly observed last Friday :p ). Now I'm down to my morning cup and one in the afternoon ('cause I'm still packing some pretty long days). I do need to cut that back some more because of the colonoscopy I'm going to have later in June. . .my plan is to go to green tea in the afternoons next week, drop that out the following week, and then start mixing decaf with my morning cup of regular until it's gone. I'm afraid of having to deal with the bowel prep for the c-scopy along with caffeine headaches.

I've missed you guys! Thank you for your posts. I got home last night and felt so helpless because I couldn't respond. I don't know what the problem is, DH says it has to do with us "being choked by spys" .

This is a better week--less craziness and fewer evening responsibilities other than teaching. DD has a concert (she was home yesterday btw) on Thursday, but that's the only special event. I've stuck to my "no sugar" policy and I'm happy about that. Maybe I should clarify that policy? I still have sugar in things like peanut butter and salad dressing, but I don't have jelly, candy, cookies, donuts, cake, soda or drinks w/sugar (with the exception of an occassional margarita :p ), baked goods like muffins and flavored bagels, and ice cream and water ice. The water ice, believe it or not, has been one of the toughest things to give up--we Philly folks like our water ice and soft pretzels in the summer. :p It'll be interesting to see if I have serious cravings in a 10 days or so when Aunt Flo comes to visit, but for now, I've seen an big change in my desire to binge. It's working for me.

I'm also happy with my walking plan. I walked 4.16 yesterday and my 2 today. Exercise sure helps me to eat better.

I have the meals for today planned:

b--had my oatmeal and coffee=5
s--fresh fruit salad=1
l--egg salad on lite bread=3.5
s--grapefruit=2
fresh veggies=0
d--two chicken tacos=10
dessert--sugar-free, reduced fat Klondike bar=4

Total: 25.5/22T, 2AP, 1.5F

I'm sorry that I can't spend a lot of time WISHing here at work, but I'll try to post when I can.

Love you all,
Erin

Erin, has Mike installed and used Ad-Aware on your home PC?? Here's a link to Lavasoft's Ad-Aware page. It's FREE and it detects and removes all the nasties from your computer.

http://lavasoft.element5.com/default.shtml.en

Lots of people on the Community Board swear by this software and I use it on both my home computers on a regular basis.

I hope you can get reconnected soon!

Thanks for clarifying your caffeine goals! :p Did you make it on just 2 cups yesterday?? I hope the withdrawal from the IV drip :teeth: is going well! ::yes::

It's a rather grey day so I'm sending you extra :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: and I know this will be another long day for you so I'm sending some energy-enhanced :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: . Do the best you can, WISH-sis - your best is always good enough.

Hi Erin,

I hate when my computer acts up.:badpc: Fortunately, I live with a techie who can fix anything. I hope all is well with you. How is withdrawl going? Any dreams of a cabana boy who brings lattes instead of margaritas?

Have a good one.
Beth

Hey, Beth, can I borrow Won for a few days? He'd like the drive to PA!::yes:: We've still got problems on the computer at home as you can see, even with that program you mentioned, Doreen
(we already have it).

I'm set to teach in two minutes, so I'll have to be brief. Yesterday was another sugar free day, and today seems like it'll be the same. I walked 5.15 miles in 80 minutes on the treadie. Felt good about that, but felt even better with the hour long nap Mickey and I took cuddled up in the chair. Happiness is a warm puppy.:p I took my vitamins and I'm trying to drink my water. Coffee is still limited to two a day, though I did have some diet coke this afternoon.

Gotta go. 'Til later. . .

Erin

Erin, if you're desperate and need help fixing that computer, maybe I can talk Todd into bringing me over for a housecall!! :p I'd do anything to help out a WISH princess: !!

Your exercise amazes me! You are going to be so ready for the half marathon!!

Glad you & Mickey got a little snuggle & snooze time - I cherish tnose naps with Maya!

EDIT:
By the way, we had problems with one computer at home last week. I actually uninstalled AOL and then reinstalled it - that fixed the problem. You can get the free AOL disks at places like Circuit City. Maybe Mike should try that.

Thanks for your advice, Doreen. I'll run it by Mike and see what he thinks. Uhh, maybe we should meet at the Cheesecake Factory and discuss it? :p

I've got to get to work, but I wanted to say that I'm treating myself like a princess: ! I had my vitamins, I've had some water, I've walked on the treadie for two miles, and I've packed myself some healthy and delicious food. I feel good about things. :sunny: The scale said 159 this morning; I'm feeling more comfortable--no bloating, no "round" feeling. Allergies, which were bothering me earlier in the week aren't too bad either.

I picked up some good healthy living books at the library yesterday; I'll post their titles later in the day. I'll also do some WISHing. :D

Hi Erin,

You are definately living the healthy life. Great job getting on the treaddie this AM. I am glad the bloating has decreased, and the scale is starting to cooperate. You are my inspiration this week girlfriend. I made my exercise plan for the week based off your plan. Thanks.

Have a great one,
Beth

Sounds like you are doing SUPER! Over 5miles yahoo:bounce: and 159 wow! Do you find a big difference with the limited coffee? thinking about cutting back but I soooo love my coffee:wave:

Hmmm, let me think about the coffee. Do I feel a difference? Well, I'm less :hyper: , that's for sure! :p Still, I seem to have a slump in the mid-afternoon (like right now, for example)
and nothing satisfies me like my java. One p.m. cup and I'm good until I go home (usually around 8 on Thursday nights). Next week I'll be doing green tea--that picks me up a bit, too, but in a kinder, gentler way.

This afternoon I gave up my grapefruit for a sugar-free, fat-free small "truly free" at Baskin-Robbins--it's my second one this week. I don't know if it was a good choice or a bad choice--it was definitely better than a candy bar, but I think I'll put a cap on the number I can have a week. I don't want to start pining away for them.

Thanks MeMe, Amanda, and Beth for stopping by. I'm going to drop by your journals now. . .

Erin

Legal treats are good, Erin!! You've done a fantastic job this week!

All you have to do is get through this evening and then tomorrow - I see a long weekend in your future!! Do you have any big plans??

:daisy:

I'm sending good vibes your way - hope your day is filled with sunshine & smiles! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Yummy, Baskin & Robbins:tongue:

I'll have to try the green tea. I don't feel wired from the coffee but I know the caffeine is sooo badddd:teeth:

I bought some cool max socks, shorts & tee at Sears and I love the socks makes me feel like I'm walking on clouds :cloud9:

Have a great FRIDAY:cheer2:

I'm getting me some of those cool max socks, MeMe! I gotta have 'em! Anything that makes you feel like you're on clouds has got to be good! Oh, btw, MeMe, I hope you have a good holiday weekend.

OK, here's the bad news. I broke my sugar free fast last night and today. The good news is that I'm going to start again tomorrow morning and stick with it through June. I just have to. I know that it's truly the best thing for me--I feel so much better and have much less inner conflict. I think I'll go for "Sugar Free 'til Indepence Day."

I've had a rough couple of days. I've cried. You might wonder what about, and I'd have to tell you it's been about a lot of things--our rent increasing at the studio, feeling sick and tired from allergies and a cold (had a fever last night), knowing that I have to go camping with my in-laws tomorrow (oooh, do I hate it--and I'm pretty sure they know it), intestinal cramping, feeling overwhelmed with deadlines and issues at work--just lots of stuff.
The crying helped, though. So much so, that I highly recommend it--I felt like a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders once I got it all out. :D

So now I'm going home to start the weekend. I won't be able to post until I come back to work on Tuesday, but I can read everything that's posted.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

 ,
Erin

Good morning Erin,
I'm sorry that the past few days have been rough for you. We have had a rough few months and it all caught up to me this week as well. You are right: a good cry every now and then can release a lot of stress and it does feel like a weight has been taken off the shoulders.

Erin, I hope you have a wonderful weekend. I know that camping with the in-laws does not look like much fun, but with a little :sunny: and :wizard: you may enjoy it. Remember, you are a princess: !

Have a blessed weekend!

Tracy:wave2: Philippians 4:4

I'M BACK! I CAN READ AND WRITE AGAIN!!!!! YAHOO! I'm on my way to the mountains  , but when I get back I can post all over. :Pinkbounc

A big thanks, hug, and smooch to my fabulous DH who never gave up and FIXED THE PROBLEM! :Pinkbounc

Thanks, Tracy, for your kindness and for posting here. Phil. 4:4; I'll remember it. Tracy, I know you've been having your own tough time, and though I don't always get over to your journal, you're in my prayers. Oh, and if I could, I'd share my box of Kleenex with you. ::yes::

 Bye now,
Erin

Hi Erin!
I'm glad that your DH fixed your computer for you! Woohoo! Thanks for your kind words and your prayers. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Tracy:wave2:

P.S. Thank you for the "cyber" Kleenex.;) I appreciate your prayers and support.

BIG HUG FOR YOU:grouphug:

I'm afraid to ask, How did the camping go and hope that you did not get the rain:rolleyes:

Sugar free sounds like a great plan, here's to a new month :thewave:

Hi Erin,

So did you survive camping with the inlaws? I bet you could use that to get something fun out of your DH.;) I hope it wasn't too terrible. Enjoy your day.
Beth
