Lulu201's Healthy Living Journal--Just trying my best to walk the walk! Come on by!

WISHing you (no pun was intended :) ) a good day in your pj's.

Keep on
Chris

Oooooooo, a PJ Day!!!!! I'm green with envy but I'm so happy you're taking some time for you! :bounce:

I'm avoiding my scale too - had the same thought (a few days on program and I wouldn't faint at the number  ). The scale will still be there when we decide it's time. ::yes::

Glad to hear MIL has been sent home - good news for sure!

Enjoy your rest and relaxation! :cloud9:

Hey Erin!

How was PJ day? I hope you had a wonderfully, relaxing day! :cloud9:

Have a healthy and happy day! :flower:

Geesh, it's almost 10 a.m. Where's my "routine"?

Yesterday I earned a :) for devotions and. . .and. . .uh. . .hmmm, guess that's it. That's in the past, though, and a new day has dawned. :sunny:

Today's plan:

1. Devotions :)
Daily Thoughts:
A Time to Think:
What you risk reveals what you value. —Jeanette Winterson
To Act:
Reflect upon the choices you have made.
To Pray:
Loving God, help me not grow weary in my becoming.
2. Vitamins--I'm going to take these today!
3. Water--I'm going to drink it all today. Yesterday I only got 1/2 way done.
4. Exercise--when I come home from work tonight, I'm going to walk Mickey.
5. Food--breakfast was grapenuts cereal, 1% milk, a banana, and coffee. I'm not going to count points today, but I'm not going to binge or eat candy.
6. Scale--ay carumba. At least I looked at it. :)

This morning I'm going to get some laundry done and some clothes put away. I'm going to practice, work on the studio newsletter, run some errands, and then head to work. I'm done tonight around 7. Can't complain about that!
Tomorrow I'm going to a workshop in the morning. That'll be fun, but I doubt I'll get around to much journaling. I'll do what I can.

:grouphug: to all. Thanks for celebrating my PJ day with me! It was great!
Erin

Erin, you sound :sunny: today! Sounds like you and I are slowly getting back on track. You get bonus points for looking at your scale :flower: - I just couldn't face mine this morning! :(

Sounds like your more relaxed summer schedule suits you to a T! Enjoy your day, dear WISH-sis!

 &

Fantastic journal entry this morning Erin! I know you are going to meet all of your goals today!

~Amanda

Keep up the good work. Some days we need those ay carumba days!!!!! :)

Keep on
Chris

Hi erin,

I am sorry that I haven't been around. I am glad that MIL is recovering. How are they coping now that she is home?

You sound like you have everything under control again. I am really proud of you. I hope you have an awesome afternoon.
Take care,
Beth

:sunny: Good morning! :sunny: Thanks, everyone, for stopping by.

Yesterday I earned :) for devotions, vitamins, and water. At least it's an improvement. :teeth:

Here's today's plan:

1. Devotions :)
Daily Thoughts:
A Time to Think:
Love is the strongest force the world possesses, and yet it is the humblest imaginable. - Mahatma Gandhi
To Act:
Open your heart to the kindness of others.
To Pray:
Thank You, Lord, for the warmth and generosity of the human spirit.
2. Vitamins--all set out on the counter
3. Water--I'll start soon. I don't want to drink too much too soon--I have a workshop to go to this morning and I don't want to have to leave 3 or 4 times in the middle of it!
4. Exercise--I'm almost there. . .but not quite. I think TOM is dragging my will power down just a bit (or at least it's nice to put the blame there! ;) ).
5. Food--kashi, 1 % milk, and a banana for breakfast--along with my coffee, of course.
6. Scale--holding steady at an awfully high number. At least it's steady, though.

Last night I watched a DVD of our musical. The kids were adorable. I was. . .uh. . .how do I say this? LARGE. I know, I know--there's no one to point the finger at other than myself. Losing and trying to maintain weight will always be an issue in my life--I accept that. Sometimes I'm more successful than others. I accept that, too. What I'm proud to wrap my arms around, though, is the fact that I'm healthier than I was two years ago. I have better day-to-day habits and an awareness of how I want to live and feel. I may not be on the track every day, but I'm not far from it, and today I'm going to be closer than I was yesterday. I just gotta keep on walking.

Today I'll be busy from morning 'til night. Seriously. I'm excited about that, though. Even though I'm deeeeeeep in the DZone, I'm feeling fairly good--no "dishrag exhaustion" as it's called in medical terms. :p Tomorrow we go back upstate and will see DD and her friend in the first of two concerts that they're giving. It's an amazing feeling to know DD is practicing on the stage where DH and I performed so many times and had such wonderful college experiences. Of course, we don't let DD know we feel like this. It has to be HER adventure, not her old parents! :p We'll be home Sunday evening if all goes as planned.

OK, I'm outa here. It's looking fairly early yet. Maybe I'll take DPup for a walk and earn myself an exercise :) ? Hmmm, could be an idea there.

Oh yes, Beth, you asked about my MIL. She's doing OK. This is her level of pain tolerance: the blood pressure cuff causes her so much discomfort that she can "barely stand it." She's got a long road to wellness ahead of her.

Thanks again, everyone, for stopping by. Love to all,
Erin

Hi Erin- what a beautiful devotion you posted!

and while you may not be where you want to be it is an accomplishment knowing that you are healthier than you were and you do have an awareness - congrats on that...many people struggle getting to that point!

Have a great (busy it seems) day!

Good morning Erin!

You sound very :sunny: and positive today! I hope that today is a healthy and happy day for you! :goodvibes Take care!

Dear WISH-sis, thanks so much for your entry in my journal this morning. Your words lifted my spirits.

Sounds like you're off for another adventure! How exciting to watch your DD bloom and grow into a confident and beautiful young woman!! Take tissues for those tears of joy. ;)

Have a wonderful day and an even better trip. :sunny:

Erin I'm glad to hear that your mother in law is doing okay. Hopefully she will make a full recovery and soon!

You have such a great day ahead of you. Bask in the :sunny: and know that you have friends out there who care about you!

~Amanda

:sunny: It's a brand new day! :sunny: Yesterday I earned :) for devotions and vitamins.

The plan for today is the usual:

1. Devotions :)
Daily Thoughts:
A Time to Think:
To feel rich, count all the things you have that money can't buy.
—Anonymous
To Act:
Put aside your fear of failure and replace it with effort towards your goals.
To Pray:
Thank you, Lord, for the tremendous difference You make in our lives.
2. Vitamins--I think I'll remember to take them.
3. Water--We'll be on the road today so I don't think I'll drink it all. A little negative, but realistic.
4. Exercise--I'm going to take Mickey out for a stroll, but that's it for today.
5. Food--I'm going to try to eat in a balanced way, but I'm realistic enough to know that I'm not going to count points while I'm away.
6. Scale-- :rolleyes1 Oops, forgot this a.m., but I feel a bit thinner.

DD called last night and is having a BLAST at music camp. DH and I are so happy for her. We'll go up to the college tonight and see her in the first of two concerts she'll have this weekend. It'll be fun for my mom; she'll get to see her granddaughter perform--something she rarely gets to do because of the distance.

I'm looking forward to Monday. . .that's when I'll be totally back on plan. Life around here will have settled down some and I'm feeling highly motivated to get back to business. I miss my morning walks, and so does DPup! Plus I have to complete my exercise challenge for July!

OK, I'm off to get packed for our weekend away. I'll be back on Monday, friends.

:flower: Erin

Enjoy your time away, with DH, with DMom, with DD.

I'll be ready to start on Monday too. We'll walk the walk together, WISH-sis.

 &

sounds like a fun weekend ahead of you! Enjoy it!

I love your devotion today especially the Act one. I'll need to keep that in mind over the weekend.

~Amanda

Hope your having a good weekend and the performances are great!!!!

On to a new week in a few days....

Keep on
Chris

Well, here I am, back to putting my nose to the grindstone. :p I've been away from my healthy lifestyle for about 10 days and I have the bloat to show for it. :p Why do I do this to myself? :confused3 I'm sure that anyone reading my journal is ready to say, "shut up already," so I'm not going to moan any more over something I have the power to change and correct.

Going forward:

The plan:
1. Devotions: :) I just love this "time to think."
Daily Thoughts:
A Time to Think:
Vitality shows in not only the ability to persist but the ability to start over.
—F. Scott Fitzgerald
To Act:
Remember that the act is more important than the recognition.
To Pray:
When I need answers, dear God, help me to remember that all questions lead to you.
2. Vitamins--I'm going to get them all laid out.
3. Water--Today I'm going to drink like a fish.
4. Exercise--my goal for this week is to walk the 1.25 mile loop with Mickey on 6 different days.
5. Food--english muffin w/pb, coffee w/half and half=4 for breakfast
6. Scale-- :) I'm giving myself a smilie here. I've made a decision to avoid the scale until Friday because I'm afraid it's # will undermine my focus and make me depressed. Right now the # isn't important-the program is.

Thanks for the good wishes, Chris, Tracy, Amanda, and Doreen. DD had an awesome time and can't wait until next year's camp. We all enjoyed her concerts and seeing her shine. The weather was beautiful--not quite as hot as it is down here.

DMIL is not doing well at all and may be readmitted today because of irregular heart beat and high blood pressure. Hopefully, if she IS admitted, they'll discharge her to some kind of cardiac rehab facility rather than to home. . .it's not working out at all. . .I can't really say more than that.

Today I'm going to do wash, clean the house, and prep lessons for the week.
I don't have to be in the studio until 1 p.m., so that should give me lots of time to do what I have to do.

I'm praying today for guidance in many areas of my life--from family situations to weight loss. I know that I have to give up this weight loss struggle to God and ask Him for the strength I need to stay OP; I can't do it alone. I feel like a barrel. . .and so completely far away from the healthy trim body I had a year and a half ago. I look in mirrors and am so unhappy with the image I see, but I know that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me :goodvibes , so today I'm going to go forward (once again!) and I'm going to welcome the boundaries of the program.

Erin
