Lulu201's Back In Action Journal

Picture me dressed in a FOOD POLICE uniform outside the studio with a bullhorn. "ERIN, STEP AWAY FROM THE CANDY!!" :jester: :teeth: Can you hear me??? :p

Your days are so full and you do so much for everyone around you. I know you want to exercise 5 days a week, but couldn't 2 of those days be Saturday and Sunday, when your schedule isn't quite so full? I'd skip the 2 busiest weekdays and save your strength for good workouts on the weekends, but you know what will work best for you. Be gentle with yourself and realistic in your expectations, OK?

Thanks for having that cup of decaf mandarin orange tea! I think I'll have a cup this afternoon. It seems like just the thing to warm me up during this beautiful cool fall weather! ::yes::

I hope all is well with Mike and dear Liz.

Sending you happy thoughts!! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Hi Erin,

Great job getting on the treadmill. That is awesome. I can hear you about the halloween candy. Everything I bought, I am allergic to. If I eat any candy, I'll breakout in hives. The stuff that Kate gets will be pitched ASAP. It sounds like you have a good plan in place for your exercise. I hope 530 won't be too tough on you. Be good to yourself.
Beth

:wave2: Beth, :wave2: Doreen!

I'm a weenie. I didn't exercise at 5:30. Nope, I didn't. I thought about what Doreen said and figured that it probably wasn't the most realistic thing to exercise on my longest work day--UNLESS I'm not going in early to work (like next week)! Tomorrow I'll do an hour on the treadie instead. My plans continue to be off, however, on Sat. and Sun. with recreational walks on those days. I think I can work with this schedule.

My exercise plan for the coming week:

10/29 60 min.
10/30 and 10/31 Walking the dog, recreational walks
11/1 (Mon.) 30 min.
11/2 (Tues.) 30 min.
11/3 (Wed.) 30 min.
11/4 (Thurs.) 30 min. 'cause I'm off until noon
11/5 (Fri.) 30 min.

These walks have to be EARLY or they just won't get done.

Yesterday went great: no Halloween candy!:Pinkbounc I do, however, have to have a better plan in place for when I get home from work. I'll think about that more today.

I'm afraid this is going to be my only journal/DIS time today. I'll try to stop by and see everyone tomorrow.

:grouphug: for all my WISH buddies,
Erin

Bravo, dear Erin, for being realistic and knowing that you truly only have so much energy for this long day ahead. Also, bravo for staying away from the nasty candy yesterday!

I'll be sending extra pink Energizer Bunny :wizard: and an extra bunch of :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: to help you through your busy day.

Hello Erin:wave:

Oh the naughty halloween candy is attacking you:earseek: well sounds like Doreen will scare some sense into you:p I only bought non-candy items because when it comes to chocolate I am way too weak to resist:)

Looks like you are a busy busy lady! Any chance you want to schedule a buddy walk? I can travel up by you, let me know.

Have a terrific Thursday:wave:

Hi Erin!

Sending you lots of :sunny: and :wizard: to help you get through your day! I hope it is a wonderful day for you!

Take care,
Tracy:wave:

Hi Erin,

Boy do you have a killer schedule today. I'm glad you get a break from going in early next week. Your exercise plan looks great. Fabulous job avoiding the Halloween candy yesterday.

I hope you get some much needed rest tonight.

:p :p Hee, hee, I LOVE it when I come to my journal and find my friends have stopped over for a visit!:p :p Hi, Beth! Hi, Tracy! Hi, Doreen! Hi, Maryellen! :wave2:

OK, I have to confess. . .I'm loving this day.:p I got up with DD, took her to school and then went out for a walk. Kind of cool (around 45), but I really enjoyed seeing the leaves. I walked in a park pretty close to my house and pretty much just strolled along, looking at the scenery and the deer. It started to rain a bit, but I just kept going. I guess it was about 50 minutes. It wasn't 60, but I'm OK with that.::yes::

I'm thinking I might go get a mammogram this morning, but then again, I'm thinking I might just cozy up in my chair with the puppy and watch a movie. Sounds downright decadent, doesn't it? My work schedule was changed around so I don't have to go in until later. . .like I said, I'm loving it.:p

Last night I was lying in bed and it occurred to me that my eating is TOTALLY out of control. I mean totally. Totally. When it's like this and I feel like I practically inhale the weight back onto my body, I know that I'm in the throws of my carbohydrate addiction. And looking back on what I ate yesterday, it's true beyond a shadow of a doubt. I had my eng. muffin w/pb for breakfast, a mini pizza for lunch, munchkins (it's Halloween party time in my keyboard classes;) ) throughout the day, a bagel for dinner, cheese and crackers for a snack when I got home (like I needed a snack!!!!!!). I'm eating whether I'm hungry or not, grazing around the kitchen like it's the darn Chinese buffet. I start each day with a promise to myself that I'll do better, but I don't. Heck, by the time the day is done, I don't even CARE! So, last night, lying there, I realized that it all has to stop. NOW. And with God's help, that's how I'm proceeding into my day.

First thing I did was wait until I was truly hungry to eat breakfast.
Then I had an egg w/cheese on the Eng. muffin. (I can tolerate carbs as long as they're balanced with protein. When I start having popcorn for dinner, like I did Wednesday, things are baaaad and that's a sure indication that I'm back into a carb-junky nightmare.) The plan for lunch is tuna salad w/a few crackers--heavy on tuna, light on crackers. Dinner will be some kind of chicken dish. No popcorn. I'm going to make some jello pudding for dessert. NO SUGAR TODAY.

My experience with Thin Within has kind of messed up my healthy living thinking, I believe. I WANT to have the self control to eat whatever I want in small amounts whenever I feel true hunger, but with the crazy schedule I work, it's hard. I want to rely on those points again! I like to think that I can incorporate my good ole points into all of what I learned in Sept. on Thin Within. . .maybe I need to have my own Christian WWers?:p

So, breakfast was good. Didn't take my vitamins yet, but I'm going to take them when I'm done here. I had my exercise. I'm going to take a nap or read a book or watch a movie. Ahhhh, I'll go get the mammogram on Monday. I PROMISE! (If I don't promise, I'm afraid I won't go. Please keep me accountable).

So, that's it for the day. I'm moving onward and looking upward.

:grouphug: ,
Erin

Edit: For lunch I had my tuna and crackers, for a snack I had a cheese stick. I had ONE munchkin, and that was really just a TEST munchkin ( I had to see if they were stale :p ). More importantly, what I didn't have were cheese curls, barb-b-que chips, iced sugar cookies, and mini-cupcakes (all the junk that came to the little party). I'm satisfied with that. I'm going home now and I'm going to have a nice drink of water in the car and center myself before I go in and graze through the kitchen. DH should have dinner ready--I'll think through what my portion size should be before I begin.

Erin, I enjoyed reading your post (AND your post in my journal also!). Your journey of self-awareness and self-acceptance continues!

Enjoy your free time today! Relax and recharge!! :sunny:

 Erin,

I am right there with you WISH-sis! I have been carbing big time! (And it ain't low carbing!;) ) Whew!:faint:

I love the fact that you spent time yesterday relaxing and enjoyong your day . Your walk sounds so peaceful and snuggling up with your puppy and watching a movie sound so relaxing.... Ahhh!:cloud9:

Have a great weekend, Erin!:sunny:

Tracy:wave2:

Hi, Doreen! :wave2: Hi, Tracy! :wave2: It WAS nice to cuddle up in that chair with my puppy, but I didn't see the movie. . .I fell asleep instead!:p

Today's a new day and I'm looking forward to it. Yesterday I came home and had a salad and pizza for dinner. No binge eating. Aahhh, huge sigh of relief. :D

The plan:

1. Devotionals--read dailyguideposts.com this morning
2. Vitamins--will take them next
3. Water--finishing my first cup
4. Exercise--today is a rest day
5. Food--I'll write down EVERYTHING that I eat or drink today. For breakfast I had 1/4 cup oatmeal w/1/4 cup 1% milk, 1 tbsp. almonds (+ or -), and 2/3 of a small banana. Also coffee w/cream.
I'm feeling like that's a hearty start to the day and should keep me quite satisfied until I come home from work around 12.:Pinkbounc No long Saturday for me today!:teeth: I haven't figured out my other meals yet, but I will.

I'm going to walk this day in faith, knowing that I can stick to my plan if I look to God for strength. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Phil. 4:13

I've got to get into the shower and get to work. . .
Erin

Here I am on the eve of a new month. . .

I like the beginning of months (and days and weeks and years); I guess it makes me feel fresh and new. Anyway, here's what I hope to do for myself during the month of November:

1. I want to read my devotional every day--30/30. It helps to keep me centered and focused on what is truly important in life.

2. I want to take care of my body by taking a multivitamin every day. I'll also try to take additional suppliments. 30/30

3. I want to drink lots of water and milk each day. I'll also try to limit my coffee. My goal for water, milk, and decaffinated beverages is 6-8 glasses per day. 30/30

4. I want to exercise 5 days each week. My plan is to exercise Mon. through Friday for 30 minutes each day, however, should something come up which prevents me from completing my walk, I'll use the weekend as make up days. 22/30 is the goal

5. I'm going to increase my consumption of calcium and milk-related products, fruits, and vegetables. I'm going to refrain from binge eating. I will strive to eat when hungry and stop when full.
Healthy eating: 30/30

I'm well aware that these are big goals and that I may not achieve these goals 100% of the time. I do believe, though, that these goals are achievable for me, and that all things are possible when I put my faith and trust in God to help me. I know that these are behaviors that I want to do for myself and for this body that God has given to me.

So, I'm moving forward into November with an optimistic outlook and plan in mind. I'm going to move onward and look Upward, day by day.

Erin

Your goals look excellent and do-able! Bravo and best wishes for a successful month!

You're doing such a good job of focusing on your healthy living on a daily basis. I'm sure you are healthier now than you were a year ago and those healthy habits are becoming a natural part of you.

Day by day, you continue to walk the walk, girlfriend! :cheer2: Way to go!! :cheer2:

I like your goals! I'm thinking I need to increase my milk consumption as well. Plus I really really really miss it! Your exercise goals look great! Remember you can always walk with Doe and I. That is what that princess: hat is for! I wear mine on every walk now - it helps to motivate me!

~Amanda

:sunny: Good morning! It's Monday, November 1, 2004 :sunny:

I'm on my way into a busy day, but I wanted to stop here quickly and check in.

So far today:

1. Read my devotionals :D
2. Had my vitamins :D
3. Had a glass of milk and 3 glasses of water :D (I've been up since 5:30, drinking away)
4. Walked with Mickey for 30 minutes in the park. It was GLORIOUS! The sun, the fresh air, the blue sky, the leaves blowing around--I felt truly blessed. 1.79 miles
5. Food: glass of milk, coffee, eng. muffin w/tsp. margarine, 1 egg, and 1 slice of cheese. Big, hearty breakfast at 6 a.m.

Headed to Michaels to pick up some yarn on sale, then will run in and straighten hear at home. Have appointment w/student at 1 p.m., need to work on teacher materials, teach from 4-8 p.m. Looks like a fun day!:D

Made arrangements for Mickey to stay with the Westie Nanny while we're away for Thanksgiving. She loves Mickey and visa versa, but there seems to be a problem with Mickey and her 21yr. old son. Mickey seems to see him as some sort of threat or invader when he's home from college and that makes the Nanny's son uneasy (Mickey's cute but a little ferocious when he's protecting his territory). I'm thinking I'll take Mickey over there to see the son when he's here visiting this weekend. . .any other ideas?

Gotta run--I'll stop by later,
Erin

Edit #1: had some more water, chicken parm. and spaghetti (a nice, reasonable portion) for lunch. Dinner will be an apple, cheesestick, and some veggies. Dessert will be when I get home around 8:30-8:45, and it'll be s.f. choc. pudding w/lite cool whip.
Downstairs straightened up; went CRAZY  buying yarn at Michaels!!!!

Ummm....you wanted to be held accountable so I'll ask.....
Have you made an appointment for that mammogram?? Don't forget, OK?

Your walk sounds so wonderful - I can almost picture it based on your description!

Best wishes with the Westie Nanny. Not sure I can offer any advice for how to help her son and Mickey bond - I'll think about it though.

I'm raising my water mug in your direction and sending a warm wish for a wonderful Monday and a fabulous November! Cheers!
:drinking1 :fish: :drinking1 :fish: :drinking1

Good morning Erin!

Your goals for November are looking good!:cool1: I know that you will do your best to accomplish each one.::yes::

I hope you have a wonderful day today! Take care, Erin.:teeth:

Tracy:wave2:

I pick up the films from my last mammogram this week and have my appointment set for 11/29. Thanks, Doreen.:p

Hi erin,

Good girl for making your appointment.

It sounds like another busy Monday for you. Your walk sounds perfect. Great job on getting your water and milk in.

I hope the rest of your day is peaceful.
Take care,
Beth

Tuesday, November 2, 2004

Plans for today and recap from yesterday:

1. Devotions--done for today; as of yesterday 1/30
2. Vitamins--taken today; a. o. y. 1/30
3. Water--my WW mug is 1/2 empty; a. o. y. 1/30
4. Exercise--I'm getting ready to take Mickey for another 30 minute walk. The poor little guy has to really hustle to keep up. He sure slept a lot yesterday!; a. o.y. 1/30
5. Food--This morning I had 1/4 cup oatmeal, 1/4 cup milk, 1 small banana, Tbsp. walnuts, and coffee; a. o. y. 1/30 (no sugar or candy)

I stayed on plan yesterday with no binge eating, but it was tough when I came home from work. Fortunately today I'll be able to eat dinner at a regular time, so I don't anticipate any struggle there. My struggles will probably come somewhere else!:p

DD is off from school--which is a nice thing--but my new schedule is all out of whack. I've got to move along if I'm going to get my walk in before work.

 to my WISH friends.

I'm looking up and moving onward, step by step, day by day.
Erin

Edit: taco bell lunch  w/DH and DD; 35 minute walk with Mickey. Poor pup was plum tuckered out, but he was so happy to be outside!
