Lulu201's Back In Action Journal

Erin is popcorn really all that high in points? I remember being able to eats lots of popcorn when I was on WW. I miss popcorn! You and Doe both have me craving it now! LOL!

Just a thought - you have so much else of your day planned but I don't see where you have your meals planned for the day. Maybe you need to set a more focused menu for the entire day to help you with your points challenge.

I love the idea of a date to talk about teenage daughters - I'll bring the chardonnay! :teeth: :jester:

Smileys? Was I supposed to think about smileys? Sorry, but I'm barely able to think about getting dressed and going to work! The alarm went off at 5 a.m.--only a little earlier than usual. Had to get DD to school by 6:45 for a.m. help with her math teacher.
Today's a marathon work day--8:30 to 7:30. I just hope I can nap a little at the red lights.:p Just kidding!!!

Seriously, the healthy living plan has just about left the building. I think I can manage drinking water and taking my vitamins. I'll try to find something to eat somewhere. Remember my afternoon musings a couple of days ago about things being out of balance? Well, today's a perfect example of it. Still, I can live with it. I'm feeling smiley inside even if I'm not using them in my journal.

I'm going to just shut my eyes for a couple of minutes and then I'm going to get showered and dressed for work.

E.

PS Drinking less coffee and more green tea is really a good thing. I'm less jittery in the evenings.

Have a good day at work today - you are working some long hours! Remember your dainty princess: size tummy!

Hi Erin,

I'm sending some extra energizing :wizard: your way. That is one long day. I hope you get some rest tonight. Taking vitamins and water are 2 healthy things you are doing for yourself today. Great job.

Beth

Do the best you can, dear Erin - it will be good enough.

I'm sending you happy thoughts for your day! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Can everyone hear me singing "Thank God It's Friday?":rockband: If not, don't worry, the band and I are just getting warmed up.

Came home from work last night (from my long day) all in one piece. Lots of smiles and good music throughout the day. I love teaching and love children and I love being in business with my DH. Let me think a moment on these happy thoughts.:goodvibes

What don't I like? School struggles and pressures. DD is having a fair amount of them right now and it's taking it's toll on all of us. Here's one that's laughable: she (and her group) had to film an infomercial for gym class and present two visuals on the topic: do ab flex machines get rid of love handles? Now keep in mind that the gym teacher assigned this project with the assumption that everyone would have access to a video camera; of course, none of the kids in DDs group had one, so they had to spend lunch time and after school filming. This class, by the way, is not HEALTH class--it's gym. Remember gym back in the day? We used to run, play ball, etc.??? You know, get exercise??? No, not in today's "new and improved" PE class: DD has to present her topic with the visuals (yes, actual pictures of peoples' love handles!!) and be graded with a 10 point rubrik! Ridiculous!

Maybe I wouldn't care if it didn't take time from other subjects, but it does and that makes me mad. Thanks for letting me come here to vent. I feel better now. :p

Oh, geez, I guess I have to get some healthy living goals in mind. I already had coffee and a Dunkin Donut cinnamon stick for breakfast. Not a great start, I admit. I think I will get on the treadie, though, and try to reclaim my calorie count for the day. Maybe if I can burn a couple of hundred, it'll take the edge of my morning excesses?

I think I really need to do my devotions and get myself into my happy place. After that, I'll take my vitamins, drink a glass of water, and run the vacuum cleaner. Making my environment a little more peaceful will help, I'm sure.

OK, I'm going to try to stop by some journals before the day is over, but for now, I'm going to get centered.

'Til later,
Erin

Hi Erin,

Boy, do I hear you about the changes in schools. In our elementary, the kids have 2 20 minute breaks for recess. There is no physical activity anymore, and then the government is upset because kids are overweight. it is insane.

I hope your day improves. I'm sure that you will feel better after the devotionals. Are you going to have any relaxation time this weekend? You certainly deserve some downtime after the hours you've put in this week.

Take care,
Beth

Today is Sunday, October 24, 2004

I'm hoping and praying this morning that I can get my healthy lifestyle back on track today. . .I feel like I have enough energy and focus to do what I have to do!

1. Devotions--church
2. Vitamins--I'll restock my little weekly pill carrier
3. Water--I'm going to fill up my WW mug and carry it around all day!
4. Exercise--I'm hitting the treadie this afternoon
5. Food--Eating when hungry, keeping track of points to help me regain focus.

Yesterday I was at work at 8:30 for lessons 'til 11:30. DH and I got ready for my afternoon Halloween recital--it was too cute for words. One little boy came as a gorilla in a grass skirt w/a coconut top; he had to take off his paws to play the piano. :p
Afterwards we picked up DD and headed off to Red Robin for burgers and milkshakes, then I came home and crashed. This morning I play and sing at church. DD has to go to a friend's house to help with a school project around 11; she'll spend the afternoon cleaning her room and doing homework. I'll spend the afternoon cleaning the house, getting organized for the week, and helping DD study for a math test on Tuesday. Tonight the family will head back to church as we all sing and/or play for Gospel Night.

So, that's the day in a nutshell.
Erin

:bday: to you!
:bday: to you!
:bday: princess: Erin!
:bday: to you!

My dear Erin,

On the occasion of your birthday, I'd just like to say how very much I have enjoyed getting to know you and becoming your friend. Your support, your encouragement, your humor, your friendship have all come to mean a lot to me. I'm so glad we found each other on this board!

I wish you peace, joy and love today and always, WISH-sis!

 and

Thanks to Doe, for letting us in on the secret of Erin's Bday!

:bday: :cake: HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERIN!!! :bday: :cake:

I am wishing you a day filled with laughter, love, and fun. Please remember that bday cake is calorie free.;)

Thanks, Doreen, Beth, and Amanda--you made my day!

Hugs to you all!

I'm not doing anything special today; we went out to dinner on Saturday night. . .I wanted to go to Red Robin (our first time) and have a milkshake, so that's what we did. Today I'm doing laundry and will pick DD up from school before heading to work.

Your good wishes added extra sunshine to my day, and I really appreciate it. I always appreciate all the happiness and encouragement you bring, but today seems like a good time to remind you how I care for you all.

With love,
Erin

Edit:

I do have some healthy living goals for today:

1. Devotions-check
2. Vitamins-check
3. Water-drinking from my humongo WW mug
4. Exercise-no. I made a decision that I'll walk Mickey around the block, but I just don't feel like it. I was up at 4 a.m. with bowel cramping--had to take 3 ibu before the pain would subside. I'm going to take a little nap instead of walk. I'll definitely try tomorrow, though, as soon come home from letting DD off from school. PLEASE, SOMEONE, HOLD ME ACCOUNTABLE!
5. I'm trying to watch what I eat today: a birthday donut (no cake) and coffee for breakfast, salad for lunch. Made sugar free pudding for after work.

Today's a new day!:Pinkbounc Let us rejoice and be glad in it!:Pinkbounc

Goals for today are pretty much the same as yesterday with the exception of my walk. . .I've got to get on that treadie before I come back to the DIS--that's just how it's gotta be.

I'm taking DD to school for some math help, so I've got to go get ready.

Erin

:sunny: Good morning, Erin!! :sunny:

If you're reading this then I'm sure you've gotten that treadie time in already so:
:Pinkbounc YAY for ERIN!! :Pinkbounc

If, for some reason, you HAVEN'T gotten on that treadie - it better be a darn GOOD reason, do you hear me Missie!! :jester: :teeth:

I do hope you're feeling all better.

Sending smiles and warm wishes for a good day!! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

:bday: princess: Erin! I hope that yesterday was a wonderful day for you and the start of a blessed year ahead. (Sorry, I'm a little late with the birthday wishes. )

Have a great Tuesday!:sunny:

Tracy:wave2:

I did it! :Pinkbounc Thanks, Doreen, for the kick in the--oops, I mean "encouragement.":p I sooooo need it!

I was thinking on the treadmill about a lot of things, one being exercise and my life. I really do want it in my life, but when my life gets hectic or I'm feeling it's out of control, I often just opt out of exercise because it's an easy thing to let go. This morning I dropped DD off at school, came home and went DIRECTLY to the treadie--I was dressed to exercise and had the water ready. I'm going to try that again tomorrow. It seems like the only way for me to get exercise in each day on a consistent basis is to do it right away. Haven't I known this for YEARS???? Why do I so often need to be hit on the head with things repeatedly??? Why am I allowing myself to eat things that aren't that healthy and then complaining about my weight?????
And then I wonder why it takes my lovely DD MANY repetitions before she understands that the dishwasher needs to be unloaded EVERY day!:p

So, my goals. . .

1. Devotions--I went to dailyguideposts and christianwomentoday ("parenting") and renewed my spirit and my motherly heart. The messages about love, anger, and teens
have lifted me up into this day.

2. Vitamins--took them; 2 days in a row!

3. Water--I've got that WW mug filled and I'm emptying it!:drinking1

4. Exercise--I walked my 30 minutes on the treadie. While walking I tossed around some ideas for my November exercise goal: maybe I'll set a number of steps as a goal? maybe I'll set a number of miles? Whatever my goal is, it's going to be in place by the 1st.

5. Food--I had my coffee and an english muffin w/pb for breakfast. Lunch will be yogurt, a cheesestick, and a pretzel. Dinner will be Tuesday Night Saladworks. It's becoming a habit for DD and I to go there each Tues.

I'm going to go fold some laundry and put it away, shower, and then try to head to Michaels before work. I have a church music rehearsal tonight from 7:15 'til 9 or so. I'll stop around at journals when I can.

:grouphug: to all my WISH friends,
Erin

Just a quick entry before I shower and head off to work. . .

My focus for today:

1. Devotions--completed.
2. Vitamins--taken.
3. Water--approx. 22 oz. done.
4. Exercise--walked my 30 min. on the treadie
5. Food--english muffin w/ pb and coffee. Have to think about lunch and dinner.

I'm pleased that I got myself on the treadie. . .tomorrow will be harder, though. I'm going to have to be on there at 5:30 a.m. if I'm going to squeeze it into my day. Guess that's what it has to be if I truly believe that exercise is important for my well being and is something I want to do 5 days/week.

My promise to myself today: I won't have any of the Halloween candy lying around the studio. It's just not good for me and adds extra, empty calories to my rather bulbous thighs.::yes::

Moving onward, looking upward,
Erin

Edit: snack: small baby bag of Goldfish, lunch: McD. salad. Cup of tea. Gotta make Halloween treat bags for students, but I won't have any--I promise!
