Ugh - I mean, it doesn't look all that cool but I love the theming of it! We are in the parks through the 3rd... any chance they do "soft openings"?? When I was in WDW the week before Toy Story Mania opened I was able to ride that.
I'm a little disappointed it's for 32" and up. My youngest is now tall enough, but it was hard when she wasn't and her older brother wanted to spend hours in Carsland. Makes it hard for a lot of families. That said, it looks cute and I'm excited to take them!
I'm sorry, but this ride looks REALLY slow and REALLY lame. Put in a track and let riders actually drive the cars themselves and that would be fun. Like a Luigi's Italian version of the DL ride, but that would likely never happen because of the real estate required.
Based on the video it sounds like they will have up to 18 cars running at a time. They said 18 tracks and 20 cousins, 2 are special for Handicapped guests to get in and out of. That means the ride likely has a max capacity of 36, assuming they don't let little kids sit in between adults. There were about 20 tires on the old ride for a max capacity of 60, but many people rode in 1's or 2's so the ride probably had a similar number of riders per sequence. This ride should load faster, so hopefully it will have a decent number of riders per hour with reasonable wait times after the first few months of newness wear off.
It does now, 32". It's not a very high mark, but I wish it didn't have a height requirement. It doesn't look fast. I guess it has open sides though. Can't have little guests falling out of the cars.
I doubt it will be closed. The Tires had a lot of problems that caused them to close. It didn't close simply because it wasn't popular enough. I do wonder if this ride will close in the rain.
They said it was a family ride. Not everyone wants fast. DCA has plenty of fast rides, including RSR. It's nice for families to have rides to enjoy, especially in a park that has struggled with the shorter guest offerings. This is a ride the whole family could possibly enjoy. The rides in Bugsland are really geared at the kids, though adults can enjoy them too, this ride certainly looks more appealing.
I wish they had used some of the real estate they have available behind this ride to do a nice calm high quality dark ride instead. That is something that is desperately needed in DCA is more indoor attractions.
Oh no, I just watched the video and the spinning at the end does not look good for me. I may need to skip this one, which is a bummer because it is the only special "AP" thing that I have been eligible to participate in! Oh well
Hmmm, while I agree that the ride looks kind of boring, I get why they did it. Cars land only has 3 rides, one being a faster ride. I'd think they'd want to keep the others more family oriented. it is a theme park with families (and kids!) in mind
The ride cars look adorable- but the ride itself looks boring as all get out. (I couldn't help but wonder after watching the video if Disney should have thrown the whole ride out and gone an entirely different direction by building a table service restaurant there or something lol!) As others have mentioned it totally reminds me of Mater's- just slower looking? I hope I'm wrong in suspecting they have a big 'ol flop on their hands, maybe I shouldn't judge before the reports come in on it! On the bright side the Chamber of Commerce should get a lot less injury complaints...
I think it looks cute and I'm curious to try it. It does look very similar to Mater's, though, and I can't imagine it being a big draw after everyone has tried it out.
