Luggage transfer with a split stay - post-Covid

We’re planning on renting dvc in August for one night then staying at AoA (non-dvc) the rest of the trip. Will they transfer from DVC to Disney resort? I know they do dvc2dvc and resort2resort. Just wanting to confirm.
Yes - they’re all Disney resorts regardless of status as DVC, not DVC, value, moderate or deluxe.

Yes. We did a triple split in Feb, starting at Caribbean Beach for one night, then moving to Grand Floridian Villas (needed to be clear that it was the DVC Villas and not regular Grand Floridian as they have separate Bell Services), then on to Riviera.

I've done many spilt stays and always (even when I have a car) have Disney transfer our bags and groceries. I have never had anything but fantastic service. The latest our luggage has ever arrived is 5. It's normally closer to 3:30.

Like pretty much every other business interaction, negative reviews/comments about Disney's luggage transfer service outweigh the positives without taking into account the vast majority of people who are satisfied and don't bother to comment. Human nature is to complain, not praise.

Now, do things go awry occasionally? Yes, of course. But it's a very, very small percentage of the total number of bags transferred every day.

I will actually be doing yet another luggage transfer tomorrow morning.

Steve
I agree with your premise about C/O, however, we have found, ( we always have a car), IF one of us get up, take the luggage, drop it off and check in, we are usually buzzed with room number a lot sooner than we would be other wise. This comes in handy for families with little ones who need a nap mid-day, and old people , ( like us), who need a nap midday. Plus I believe in Murphy's law, LOL and anytime I can cut down on wait time for anything, I tend to take that road. BUT: that's my choice, and I say to each... but if and when stuff goes wrong don't grouse about it. ESP. since one made ones own bed.

We have done 4 WDW trips post-Covid and all of them have been split stays where we had our luggage transferred by Disney. We had great service with each one. They tell us when we drop our bags off that the luggage won't be at the new resort until sometime between 3-5pm. Like @Fangorn, our luggage has usually arrived at the new resort closer to 3:30.

For those of you with groceries to be transferred between the split stay - did you try to box/bag those up and take them to bell services, or did they come to your room and take them? Thanks!

We kept the bags that the food originally came in and rebagged them. Bell services came to the room to get our bags and the groceries. We got a tag that listed the number of bags.
At our new resort, once we were in the room, called bell services and everything was brought to our room.
Very simple and easy on both ends.
Just be sure to tip both.

That's great to know - I have one kid with food allergies and another who is a T1 diabetic, so our room food is pretty important :). Thanks so much!!

Be sure to label clearly which bags need freezer and which need refrigeration.

I do this every stay, usually 3 different resorts over 10 days. I have never had a problem with Bell Services. You should tip nicely. They will put a label on each bag and give you a receipt with the number of items and a serial number for tracing. If you have refrigerated items, just let them know which bag and they will keep it cold until it is delivered.

Thank you all so much! We try to do things that don't need refrigeration, so that shold just one small bag. You guys are awesome!

I did this twice on two separate trips since the reopening. once from SSR to RIV and then again from BLT to SSR. Works the same way it used to. Call bell services on your room phone, they pick it up, give you a receipt, you should tip them. I think you need to give them a few hours (I think they say 4, but I can't recall exactly). Then call bell services from your new room and they deliver and you should tip again!

Both times, we simply packed up our stuff and handed off to Bell Services before we left for the day. Did our park stuff for the day, and when we returned from our days adventures to our new room, we called and they delivered. In my many years of doing this as a DVC member, never once had any issues/problems/delays.

I only did it once and that was when a hurricane was coming and had no problems. If they can do it when a hurricane is coming they can do it during covid.

How early is bell services open to take luggage for transfer? I need to transfer from OKW to the Contemporary on the morning of 10/1 and would like to head over, park and walk to MK super early.

Bell Services is open 24 hours a day, so you can call when you’re ready (give them some time to get there) or drop them off.

I've called them at 6am without problem. We had a pre-park opening reservation at Crystal Palace and I wanted to be the first one on Main Street!
