is it just me or does anyone else think these are flimsy?

I haven't taken them out of our book or anything but they don't look like they would hold up through much....

also we are staying at WDW before our cruise although not on a land and sea package. I am confused as to whether or not we should put them on ahead of time.....I plan on using bell services at AKL to deliver luggage to the room.

Our luggage tags held up very well, but you don't want to put them on until you are ready to head for the cruise part of your trip.

They hold up well enough - but you don't want to put them on until you are on your way to the ship (unless, IIRC, you are taking Disney transportation straight from the airport). If you have them on when you land and someone else from your flight is going straight to the ship, DCL may see them and think your bags need to go to the port!

I am a little confused. We are flying in the day of the cruise and are being picked up by a shuttle that was arranged by our travel agent. Do we put the tags on before we leave home so that they are on when we land at the airport?

Are these tags barcoded etc. in anyway or are they all just generic Disney Cruise tags? I am going, in June, on a land/sea. I was told to put the luggage tags on BEFORE I get to the airport and Disney Cruise Line will know that they are responsible for getting my bags and transporting them to the Disney Resort first. How can they tell which ones go to the ship and which ones go to the resorts? We are using Disney transportation. I assume that if you have arranged your own transpotation that you are responsible for your luggage.

Please some of you DIS veterans help us...

I hate to admit this as it make me sound lazy, but we just took our tags off a couple weeks ago. Our last cruise was in April in 2001. We have used these bags countless time. I really was waiting for them to fall off, but they wouldn't!

I believe that the baggage handelers can tell if the luggage is to go to WDW or the Cruise first.

If you are doing DCL transportation, and are going from the airport to the port, put the tags on before leaving home and you will see them on the ship. If you are going somewhere else for a day or more before going to the ship, leave them off ('cause you won't see your bags untill you get to the ship).

Once on the ship, REMOVE the tags from your luggage so that your luggage doesn't take a second cruise without you if you are flying home (you go home, the baggage handlers see the tags and send the bags back to the ship)

Yes, the DCL baggage reps can tell by looking at the tag whether you are going to a resort first or straight to the ship. A good rule of thumb is to put the tags on prior to DCL taking charge of them. That is to say:

1. If you are not using DCL transportation only put the tags on right before going to the port.

2. If you are using DCL transportation all the way, put the tags on prior to leaving your house.

3. If you are using DCL transportation only on 1 leg of the trip, put the tags on prior to using the transportation (e.g. put tag on bags in resort room and leave bags outside of room prior to getting on DCL motor coach when going from Resort to Port).

Remember, at the airport, baggage delivery service is only available if you arrive before 17:30 on Thursdays and Sundays and before 16:30 on Saturdays. On other days and after that time, you will need to collect your own bags and take them with you.

Another thing to keep in mind is to always take the tags off before you disembark the ship. If you leave the tags on and at some later time go through the Orlando Airport, it is very likely that your bags will be delayed.

I hope I helped clear this up and have not confused more people.
