Luggage tags? When?

last question I think. We will be at Universal 3 days before getting onboard. So I shouldn't put the luggage tags on now, do I? We will need changes of clothing for Universal. I have a fear of losing our luggage for the trip/cruise though...t has never happened before.

Do I tag them just in case they are lost...so they will arrive on the ship?

Thanks so much for the info! Our first cruise and I know nothing!

Are you driving yourself directly to the port? If so, you should put the luggage tags on the day you get on the ship. There are porters at curbside to take your luggage.

The tags only mean anything to DCL personnel. They won't mean anything to anybody else if your bags are lost.

If you are afraid that your luggage will be lost on the flight to Orlando: In this case you will need to deal with your airlines lost luggage counter. There they will need the little luggage receipt that you get when checking your luggage. You will tell them where you are and they will do their best to reunite you with your luggage. I had had luggage not getting to my destination and it usually took between 24 and 48 hours until I had my luggage. So, it is very unlikely that you will not get your luggage before you go to the cruise. However, if this happens, you need to alert the airline and tell them exactly when you are checking out of your hotel in Universal. I am sure they would deliver the luggage to Port Canaveral if it does not arrive until the day your cruise departs. They might even send it on to your first port - but not sure how that would work if your first port is outside the US.

The luggage tags you get from the cruise don't help the airline at all. You should put those on the last time you yourself see your bag before you board the ship.

So I can just put them on now so I don't have to remember to do it later? Or keep up with them until I do. Lol. Thanks

Since you are obviously flying into Orlando several days before your cruise, do not put your luggage tags on until you leave for the port.
