I'm not sure you can do that if you're not a guest of the hotel. They ask for your room number.
No, they don't ask for a room number, nor is one required. It's not at all uncommon to leave bags with bell services before you have a room, so you wouldn't have a room number to give them. However, they have always asked us if we are checking in or checking out. And they do take our name. I have no idea if they check it against a guest list or not.Probably depends on who happens to be working there, but They didn’t ask our room number. We told them that we had checked out in the morning but our bus wasn’t until later, so they held our bags for us (which was true).
