I have just a quick question? When we disembark the ship after our three day cruise should we take our luggage with us to the airport or leave it at the port with the American Airlines check in? I am already having nightmares about not making our 11:30am flight home and dont want to do anything to complicate things. We will have 4 children and four adult. Any suggestions?

The lines for checking in at the airlines at the cruise terminal can be long....it all depends on how many other people are flying your same airline that particular day. We have had to wait at least 20 minutes in line to check in and as little as 2. It is hit or miss.

You can assess the length of the lines yourself. Just walk out of the terminal and turn left to where the DCL buses and airport check-in is. You can then tell about how long your check-in will be.

Last year we had a flight change and were more than ready for a 10:50 AM flight. We try to be out the door at disembarkation and through customs, then get on the bus and by that time, it's generally 9AM when we get to the Airport.

It's always a bit stressful because of all the things that could happen - but don't let it start affecting you now! There's too much good stuff ahead!

When we were on the 7 day cruise back in Feb, we had an 11:05 flight out of Orlando. The Check in at the port would not check our luggage. They said that they only check luggage at the port for flights after 12:00. If they would have checked our luggage we would have definitly done it. We have done this in the past with RCCL and loved the convenience of not worrying about our luggage.

travelingtwin - good! No need to use all the energy for stress! There is a lot more fun things to do instead!!!!

Ok, type A personality here. Now I'm stressing out. Two years ago we did the DCL cruise and our return flight home was at 2pm. We checked our luggage in at the port with no problem and took the DCL bus to the airport. We waited what seemed like forever at the airport for our flight. This year we booked a 12 noon flight out and now USAIR moved our flight up by 15 minutes (11:45 am). Not much difference, but If I read the previous poster correctly they do not take your bags if your flight is earlier then 12 pm. Is this true? It was so easy for us to have USAIR to check in our bags at the port. We are staying at disneyworld for a week prior to the cruise so we will have about 6 bags. We liked the convience of the check in.

Last year (3/02) we had an 1120 am flight, and USAir took our luggage at the port. We (and our luggage) had no problem making the flight.
