So please excuse me ignorance. I moved to Hawaii last fall and haven't been following up on Disney as we can't go due to distance/money and now covid my husband can't leave the island unless its an emergency.

We are now starting a savings account for when we move back to the mainland and make our return trip. So what is the deal with luggage now? I read that it is no longer available? So guest have been having to pick up their own stuff and put it on the bus?

We only used ME once back in 2015 when I lived in Maryland. For the past years we went we lived in Fl and always drove. I am just wondering what they have been doing the whole time covid was going on.

I'm having trouble posting links, but OP probably should take a look at the thread in the Resorts board with this title: Disney's Magical Express to End in 2022, Extra Magic Hours to be Replaced with Early Theme Park Entry Later This Year

A quick summary --
  • Luggage service MCO -> WDW or WDW -> MCO was discontinued back in the summer when WDW re-opened. I believe this was due to layoffs by the 3rd party service BAGS which actually provided the service.
  • Just announced today is that Magical Express service will be discontinued starting 2022. That presumably means the luggage service will not be returning.

The ME is why I was questioning the luggage issue. It has been blowing up my facebook and here cause I am paying attention again to Disney as we were starting to look into going in 2022. But someone said the luggage was no longer available. Again my last trip was back in Oct 2019 and I haven't looked really at Disney things until more recent.

Which is why I am asking this question....I said something about it not mentioning the luggage issue so that should still be operating....which someone informed me that was canceled some time ago.

No one is talking about the luggage because that was stopped so long ago that it's old news. I think you are missing the bigger issue that if you are planning a trip in 2022, there will be no Disney transportation from the airport to your resort, period. No transportation, no bags, nothing. You will need to book alternate transportation for you AND your luggage.

Since baggage delivery and resort airline check-in have been suspended since WDW reopened, this is what is currently happening: When you get off your flight, you have to go to baggage claim to retrieve your bags, then head to Magical Express. When you board a bus, the driver will load your bags under the bus, and unload them when you get to the resort. When heading back to the airport, you'll need to bring all of your luggage with you when you meet the ME bus. Once again, the driver will load your bags under the bus and unload them when you get to MCO. At that point you simply head upstairs and check in for your flight like you would at any other airport.

Like the other posters have said, this information is only good until 12/31/21 since Magical Express will be ending then. We really don't know what other transportation options may develop between now and then, but I'd expect that baggage delivery won't be returning.

i clearly got that memo. Because I have spent a year in lockdown and had other travel plans I stopped keeping up on Disney and what was happening. Yes I knew they closed, yes I knew they opened. What I missed was some of the smaller things. So I was wondering how was it being done now.

thank you for giving the run down of what they were doing. Just hidden kept up on all the little things that were happening due to no travel ban for my spouse and we had other travel plans that were not Disney so I didn’t pay attention to all the small things other than they closed and reopened.
