Those of you on the Westbound Cruise, how many pieces per person of luggage did you take. We have noticed that DCL limits it to 2 pieces per person. Since our airline will take 3 per person, I didn't think I would have an issue. Now I'm worried we may go over our limit. Did anyone have any problems with this.

Donna....wow...do you really think you will have to bring more than 2 bags per person...I was only planning on bringing my one suitcase on the repo that I take, even for the 7 day cruises....I plan on just mixing and matching....now you got me thinking maybe I should bring more???

Hi D

We did not have any problems with the luggage, they had extra tags at the Port..

Avoided the problem and shipped six boxes to the ship...They were in the stateroom when I got there...Also took six bags (Two large checked bags and four carry-on bags).

Luggage for the 2 of us for our 2.5 week vacation.

When we live New York - each of us will have the following:

1 large check in bag - tucked inside a carry-on suitcase (extra suitcase for purchases - extra stuff for people puppy & cat sitting) & 1 garmet bag.

Leaving from ship - we will each have:

1 large suitcase, 1 carryon suitcase & 1 garmet bag.
Plus one extra shoulder bag (can you tell we are shop-a-holics :rotfl: )

Thankfully -- I'm using JetBlue for the flights. They allow 3 check-in bags with a weight limit of 70 lbs. :cool1:

We had 18 pieces of luggage counting computer bag, camera bag, purse, and everything between the five of us. We checked-in 14 pieces with DCL. I can't remember how many with Delta - I think it was 10.

We took two for each of us and that was way too much. We had so much stuff we didn't need, especially with the new casual dining policies for the dining rooms.

If you took less with you, how often did you have to do laundry? And how busy was the laundry room? How cool are the inside spaces-didyou need a wrap or sweater? And how much sweating did you do in the outside spaces?

MJ,
I can't decide if we'll be washing or not. Probably will, but since we'll be gone for 16 days we will probably pack for at least 7 days and probably closer to 14. I can't see doing laundry more than once. On previous trips when we've planned to do laundry, it takes a few days before we actually get a chance.

I figure we'll have at least 3 suitcases and probably 4, plus 1 (and probably 2) garmet bags. We have a folding rolling suitcase and so does my mother, so we'll be bringing both of those in some piece of luggage. On top of that I will probably be bringing a case of water bottles on with us. We will be taking at least 6 bottles of water off the ship with us each day, and maybe more. I would rather not be bothered with having to remember to keep the water bottles so we can refill them on the ship. I want to be able to throw the bottles away when we are finished with them. I am not paying DCL prices for the water, i almost fell out of bed when i saw them. I did like the cooler idea, and think we may be doing that though.

With a 50 pound weight limit i need enough suitcases to make sure we won't have to worry about luggage weight. So if we have 4 suitcases and 2 garmet bags, i don't want to have a problem with the water.

Shipping boxes to the ship was mentioned any info available on how to do this? and howfar in advance to do so?

I'm not concerned so much with DCL's luggage limitations, instead we need to stay within the airline's baggage limitiations for our flight home, not to mention consider where we are going to store all of our empty luggage during the cruise and how we'll cram it into the rental vehicles in FL.

The airline limits us to TWO checked pieces of luggage per ticketed passenger, not to exceed 50 lbs per piece of luggage, plus ONE carry on and ONE personal item.

If you go over weight or over size it's a $25 charge. If you have additional pieces of checked luggage it is $80 per charge. And if it is an overweight excess piece of luggage add the two charges together.

So we are thinking that we'll pack about 10 days worth of clothes (for 16 nights) and do laundry at some point during the cruise (granted, we'll probably have to do it at 3AM  ).

I think that was our plan also, 10 days worth of clothes doing laundry once. Our airline limits us to 3 pieces of luggage at 50 pounds each. So I was going with that assumption. I had read that someone was charge $25 per extra piece of luggage by DCL on the wonder, and didn't want to get charged. Especially if it was for luggage that I would end up not taking off (consumable or items to give to others).

Anyone have the address to the warehouse in San Pedro for shipping? I need the warehouse NOT the port's address. Thanks!

I just sent you a PM.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for: I spoke with DCL this morning to inquire about having a package delivered to our stateroom initially I was told it couldn't be done I questioned this as it was accomplished through the warehouse and housekeeping at Port Canaveral. After a bit of checking the CM gave me the following information:

Disney Magic
C/O Quay Cruise Agencies
1025 W 190th Street, Suite 165
Gardena, CA 90248

Disney Magic Sail Date:
Passenger Name:
Stateroom #

You need to include all the info to ensure it will get to you.
She seemed surprised it could be done. I felt unsure of trying it and think I'm just going to send my package to CA/DL where we'll be staying the night before embarkation.

Anyone have any thoughts on what they may be shipping and if it would be a problem shipping from Canada (customes are a pain!)? I thought it would be great to ship sunscreen, beach toys, dress shoes and other stuff that takes up a lot of room but would hate for it not to arrive. Can you imagine getting on the ship and realizing no sunscreen or dress shoes and no time to replace them before you sail???UGH :confused3 I wonder if you could call to see if your package has arrived or send it registered so you would be able to track it.

Any thoughts on what you would send and if you would be concerned about its arrival????

Well, I'm shipping our formal clothes so we will definitely look out of place on formal nights if our packages don't arrive on the ship! I'm shipping it UPS so I'll have a tracking number to make sure it gets to the warehouse. As long as it gets there, I don't think there will be a problem with it reaching the ship.

great thought of the ups, maybe I will check into that for pricing myself.
Maybe I will ship our formals too, at least that way both our families will look a little silly when showing up for dinner in our jammies or some other less than formal attire if our stuff doesnt end up in our staterooms!

Now, when to ship it??????
