When leaving the ship, if your not using one of the participating airlines that transfer your luggage, is their bell hops onboard ship that will come to the stateroom and take the luggage thru customs and onto the Disney Cruise Line buses???

I've seen a few people with someone moving their larger luggage.

And what would you recommend the tip be for a service like this?

Thanks

Chris

You leave your luggage outside your room the night before you disembark and then collected once you are off the ship at customs. The people you have seen would be the porters. They will help collect your luggage in the terminal and go with you through customs and take your luggage from there to your transportation, if you choose to use them. There are no bellhops on the ship. If you choose to keep your luggage with you and not put it out then you would have to take it off the ship yourself. Bit of a bother IMO.
Don't forget to tip the porter well, it takes some time to get your luggage and go through customs.

The night before you disembark you set your luggage outside your stateroom door, and the crew will take it to the cruise terminal. This keeps thousands of suitcases from clogging up the passenger elevators. You'll claim your luggage inside the terminal when you get off the ship. There will be baggage handlers to help you load it up and take it through customs. The tip will depend on how many bags you'll have. We tip comparable to what we tip sky caps when we check in our luggage curb side at the airport.

If you are not participating in the Onboard Airline Checkin, you leave your bags outside your room the last night. Your bags are picked up by the room hosts and taken to a central collection room. From there they are taken off the ship. You then pick up your bags and take them through Customs with you and then to the DCL bus. There you give your bags to your driver to be placed beneath the bus for the trip to MCO.

You can pick up a porter in the baggage claim area at the port terminal who will help you gather your bags and place them on a cart for the time you go through customs/immigration (with you) and then will bring them to the bus location for the driver to then handle.

Porter tip - $1 or $2 per bag or $5 for two of us (generally 2 or 3 bags).
