Luggage Forwarding Question

I'm wondering why you would need to do that. Can't you take your luggage on a the train or in a taxi? We are going for 2 weeks and staying at 5 different hotels. We plan on three carryon's and two back packs.

If we buy a lot we will buy a suitcase there and check it all going home.
It varies. You shouldn't take luggage on the metro or other local trains during rush hour. Bullet trains require special reservations for large luggage. You're also supposed to be limited to two bags, but that isn't as enforced as long as it fits overhead. You can definitely use a taxi around the city.

Now that I back from this trip I am happy to inform that the hotel had a luggage forwarding desk and it was so easy to have our luggage transferred. Thanks so much to everyone who took the time so respond to me. It was much appreciated!
