Luggage check question

Does anyone know how long before a flight you can check luggage? We're getting a ride to Midway in Chicago and flying Southwest and we'll be there about 5 hours before the flight. I would like to check the bags and take the train into Chicago. Thanks

There's a time limit as to how early you can check your bags, but I'm not sure what it is. It may be 3 hours, but I don't think it's as long as 5 hours.

It may vary by airline, though. Call Southwest and ask. If it were me, I'd call the airline office at the airport, as airlines may have different limits at different airports.

Usually it is no more than 4 hours before. But I second the suggestion to call your airline.
