Luggage and flight issue

This may not be the right board for this question but our flight was delayed until midnight tonight - bags were already checked when we found out.

We had to hurry and find another airline that was going to Orlando as we didn’t want to lose an entire day. The problem is that we had no time to get our luggage back and really couldn’t find anyone to help us.

When I land in Orlando, what would be the best thing to do? Call the airline? Find someone from Frontier for assistance? Can anyone at our resort help us get our bags sent to the hotel (that’s a long shot I know). Any help would be appreciated!

1. You need to speak to Frontier asap. They likely did not load your bags without you also being on the plane.
2. In the future, Apple Air Tags, you will know exactly where your bags are.
3. Go speak to Frontier at MCO asap. Make sure you have your checked bag receipts with you. My guess is your bags may be at your original airport if you did not get on the original flight.

When you land in MCO I would go down to the original airline's baggage desk (assuming that is Frontier). This should be a little office type area in the baggage claim area. I would tell them that your flight was heavily delayed and you found other transportation, but need the bags delivered to your hotel once they arrive. I've never flown Frontier so not sure if they will accommodate this request but that is best case scenario. Being an LLC there is a chance you will have to trek back to MCO to pick up the bags.

If you can't find someone to ask before your flight takes off I would use Frontier's twitter account to get some details. I would DM them your 6 digit record locator and also the luggage tracking numbers from your checked baggage. I would tell them the situation and see if they can track the bag. If you don't have Twitter sign up for it. Most airline Twitter/social media teams can usually get more info/handle a situation better than if you just call the generic phone number.

I agree with the previous poster that there is a chance your bags don't make it to Orlando. If that is the case talking to someone in person at MCO or Twitter team is probably the only way to actually get the bags sent. Good luck

Ok, fortunately we do have AirTags but here’s a more clear story:

My parents and I checked our luggage with Frontier and then an hour later our flight was delayed until 11:40pm tonight. We bought tickets to fly with American because Frontier couldn’t help us - no time to get luggage.

I land in MCO and go to the Frontier baggage claim office and was told maybe the bags were already there - impossible but I let her speak.

I then found a supervisor who told me more than likely our bags will be on the flight coming in tonight unless it’s canceled and we’ll have to pick up the bags.

I got out earlier on stand by and my parents should be coming in tonight on their flight (again, not with Frontier).

On my way to the resort - don’t know what else to do. My parents can’t get Frontier to get their bags. Very frustrating but hopefully I can get our bags tonight.

Are your parents flying out of the same airport u did? If they get there early they MIGHT be able to get the bags from frontier and check them with them. I'd Tweet Frontier or call and have them put in the record notes that your parents can take control of your bags. Not sure if that would work....but it's a best case scenario

They did fly out of the same airport as me - we were going together but i was able to get out earlier on standby-a single seat opened up. They are on their way to MCO now but our bags are sitting, waiting for tonight’s delayed flight to get to the airport - I may have to go to the airport in the middle of the night to get the bags - we are here for a week and won’t have any clothes unless we go buy new or if our luggage arrives tonight. Trying not to let this ruin our trip but definitely upsetting.

If you have Air Tags you should be able to FindMy and find them right now. At a minimum they will give you their last location. Never had a problem finding my bags with Air Tags

Yes I can see where our bags are - and I’ll be watching to see if they fly to Orlando tonight.

did You tell the Frontier guy where they are? That might help, and you should see them if they land at MCO with that flight tonight. If they still show being at your origin airport when that flight gets in tonight then might be difficult especially if Frontier cancels or changes flights due to the storm. Good luck, I remember reading a story about the mess in Europe this summer and a family who had luggage lost in airport in Amsterdam. Guy could show his air carrier EXACTLY where they were in the Amsterdam airport from his Air Tags, but they never sent. He finally just flew over to Amsterdam and physically retrieved them, because his Apple AirTags had them pinpointed. Found in a storage room along with hundreds of other bags. Europe was a mess this summer. Good luck

The Frontier people were horrible to deal with - I tried in person, online but couldn’t get anyone to even attempt to to help. I’ll check back in with an update though.

I doubt they match luggage to passengers on domestic flights. All checked baggage goes through an X-ray machine when you drop it off at check-in. Also don't think any airline will try to retrieve your checked bags once loaded onto the airplane, since there is no practical way to do that. My guess is that Frontier (original airline I believe OP used) will hold your luggage as unclaimed at your destination. You can return to the airport and either find you bags being held and/or speak to the Frontier customer service person. Frontier will probably not deliver your luggage to the hotel where you are staying since that is only typically done when luggage has been lost along the way.

I guess what I don’t understand.... if the new flight is delayed that much & unacceptable, you normally turn down the change & get the flight refunded. In that case, why would the airline transport your luggage at all? If you no longer have a ticket for a fronteir flight, why would frontier take your luggage? How would they know you even went to the destination & want your luggage taken there? And shouldn’t you pay for that service?

The flight was not refunded - it probably could have been, but rather waiting hours for a new flight - possibly the next day, we left. That’s why our luggage should be on this flight tonight if it goes out. It’s not the proper way to handle this, I admit, but at least we’re here now and we’ll get the bags at some point.

You went to so much trouble to get to Orlando when you're going into a week of a hurricane.
You just can't win for losing.
