We checked in today. We scored one of the extra large 2 bedroom dedicated rooms. It is so large! This is our first time staying here and we are so impressed. Had I known that we would have gotten such a great room, I wouldn't have gone for the splitt stay. Going to enjoy it for the next 5 nights. I know the boys will love AKV as well- 4 more nights there. We also went over to TOWL tonight. It was great. Not that crowded when we got there at 7:45, but full by 9:00. We really enjoyed it. Hope they keep it open for all DVC members. :-)

Lucky you! Hoping for some pics! I remember reading about those another thread but forget where those rooms are. Enjoy. :goodvibes

Enjoy your VWL stay! I had to cancel ours for December, but do have a stay there planned for April!

Shhh... don't tell people nice things about VWL, they'll all want to stay here. Let them think the rooms are small, dark, and outdated.

Seriously, we had a dedicated 2 bedroom for marathon weekend back in January and it was great. You get all the extra space where the entry would normally be for the second bedroom.

We're in a one bedroom now (smaller group this time) and loving it!

Enjoy

Is this the room that is sort of zig zag shaped near the elevators? We had it and liked everything about it except the kitchen storage space was nonexistent.

Congrats! Glad you were able to get one! I've tried to get one of them a few times, but have always been told they aren't available when we've checked in. I'd love to see pictures if you have a chance to take some. Enjoy your trip!!

Enjoy your trip, i'm hoping to stay at VWL next December, its beautiful this time of year.

Would love to see pictures please! DH has no interest in staying at WL and I want to try it so badly. I'm hoping some good pictures will help sway him.

We just got back! Love, love, love the Wilderness Lodge so beautiful!!! Have a great stay! Happy Thanksgiving!

VWL is a wonderful place to stay. It feels more secluded and intimate than other resorts, yet it has very good travel options, e.g., the boats to MK or CR. It feels more relaxed and serene than nearly any other place at WDW which is important to us at the end of the day. Plus, the theming is exceptional and that aspect increases exponentially during the holidays. Enjoy your stay, and for those who have yet to visit, enjoy the planning!

That was it exactly. The kitchen was the only shortcoming. Loved the room though. So much space for the 6 of us to spread out. We loved VWL much more than we anticipated. One other nice feature - the quiet pool was lovely. The main pool was great, but the weather was on the cooler side. The quiet pool was sheltered from the wind off of Bay Lake, making swimming much more enjoyable. The decorations were beautiful. Would not hesitate to stay there again. :)

Here are a few pics from the Lodge. Some are of Christmas and some aren't. Hope this helps you convince your DH. ;)
