Day 7
Friday, and its our last full day. Where did the time go? It looks as if well miss Typhoon Lagoon, and I was really looking forward to that! And we only managed to do Disney Quest once! We also never made it back to re-do any of those favorite rides we liked so much. Murf has gone off this morning to get in his finale round of golf. Hes had a blast on these courses. Im just going to lounge around the pool today, and do a little bit more exploring of this beautiful resort. I got up and had another breakfast pizza from Roaring Forks, and headed over to the Wilderness Villas to check them out. They have a cozy lobby, and a great gaming area. It looked as if someone enjoyed a game of checkers here recently. They have a health club, which I wandered into. The CM came up to me immediately, and I swear, he scowled at me. Cant blame him, because Im sure he could tell I didnt look the type who spends too much time at the gym. He told me he could set me up with an account if I wished, and I explained I was just looking around, but I think he could have been a bit friendlier. Murf met me at the pool, by that wonderful cascading waterfall at the edge of the pool. This is a great area to relax because the water gives you some resistance, and you feel a bit like a salmon swimming up stream. We cleaned up and headed to Epcot again. We ate dinner at the Coral Reef. For two wishes, the price seemed high for our meal. It really wasnt very flavorful. We had twin Lobster Tails, and they were OK at best, but what the heck, were still on vacation for one more day, so thats fine. Afterwards we did the Living Sea, and I missed the old ride under the fish tank, or at least thats how I remembered it. But this is still a fun place to visit and get lost in the different aquariums. Then it was off to the Land for a quick look around. We then did Imagination, which had changed a lot since I was last there. We finished this area with HISTA. We decided to do the other side of Future World tomorrow, before we leave for home, so it was off to Mexico. Murf bought me a piece of green amber jewelry here, and we did the water ride. Afterwards, we headed out to get Margaritas and enjoy sitting by the water. We met another couple from NJ, and talked with them for a bit. We finished our drinks and headed to Norway. I discovered the Ship and Chapel this visit, I didnt know they were there! We did the Maelstrom, skipped the movie and cruised the shops at the end. I love their sweaters, but they are way too expensive for something I might only wear 5 days a year, and only when I visit Michigan! It just doesnt get that cold in Tennessee. We toured Chinas shops, and picked up a paperweight that has blue dolphins swimming in the glass. I have it on my desk at work, to remind me of our vacation. Next stop was Germany. We grabbed a quick snack here and watched some of the German-fest entertainment. I loved watching all the kids have a great time, with Daddies and Mommies dancing with their little ones. We stay thru the Chicken Dance, which brought back great memories of family times. We toured the shops and I drooled over the beautiful glassware and Christmas ornaments. This is where I decided to finish my trip with a glass of Champaign at every country that offered one, (and there were a few to be had.) We walked thru the shops in Italy and picked up another glass of the bubbly stuff. They were going down pretty good about now. We walked on to the American Adventure, and checked out the lobby area. There was going to be a 45-minute wait for the next show, so we were sorry to have to miss it. By now it was dark and we knew our last night was coming to an end. We did a quick walk thru Japan, and took a bit more time wandering thru the shops in Morocco, where I purchased a bottle of Rosewater, and another glass of Sparking Wine, (who knew!). We then found ourselves back in France, where we walked thru our last series of shops and I got my finale glass of Champaign. By now people were linings up for Illuminations. We continued to walk on over to England, looking for our viewing place, and met a family from England who we struck up a conversation with to pass the time. They were on a two-week holiday, this being the first week, next week; they were going to the beach. We all laughed at our style of driving, and all their (mis)adventures in this country. Before long, the music started, and we were mesmerized. This was really beautiful, and Im glad we made it.
We dragged ourselves back to the Lodge, as we had a late PS at Artist Point. Murf enjoyed the Buffalo and I had the Salmon, with I flight of wine, that provided a wonderful complement to our meal. We finished off with the berry cobbler, and we were done. We made it back to our room and stood out on the balcony to enjoy our last night at the lodge. Oh my, what a lovely sight.
Day 8
We finish our packing, previewed our bill, and call the porter. They were there in about 30-minutes, and we loaded up and headed to Epcot. As we approached the turnstiles, we ran into our first real over crowded situation, and with one last look at Golf Ball, we decided to head to DTD for all those souvenirs to take home, instead. We stopped for a quick bite to eat at IHOP, and with only one minor glitch, we made it home safe and sound.
Finale musings:
They had a laser show on the clouds of the Lodge on our first night, but I never saw it again. Sitting in the hot tub on our first night, it was a joy to behold, and a real delight They moved around a little like flying saucers, Cool!
The Pressed Pennies were fun. It gave me an excuse to check out all the shops.
Cirque Du Soliel was wonderful. I am looking forward to seeing another version of it in Las Vegas next year.
Fort Wilderness is someplace Id like to send a few nights to go camping. The grounds were well maintained and the sites were pretty private. I can see why other campground aspire to do as well that Disney does, in providing a well organized and clean place to camp.
The only sore spot was Bongos, which still makes me a little mad, but other wise it was a wonderful experience.
We spent more than I planned, but this vacation was to relax, have fun, and to celebrate our 5th anniversary, it hit all marks on the nose!
Thanks to everyone who gave me suggestions and offered advice. You all helped to make this vacation special!
