AWESOME . We loved it (now this was 3 years ago this August). The show was wonderful, a lot of audience interaction and then you can get pics taken with the performers after the show. The food was YUMMY. It was buffet style and I can't really remember what all was offered, but I love rice, all kinds of rice, and their Jasmine rice was delish. I remember the chicken being really good too. I know there was salad and rolls and all the desserts were little bite sizes so you could sample it all . I know that Mai Tai's were complimentary and they kept 'em full. Can't remember if beer/wine was included or now, we drank the Mai Tai's. Our DD was 6 at the time and she enjoyed the show too. We thought it was well worth the money. We (3 of us) were seated at a table with 2 other families, for a total of 9 or 10 people, but there were other kids and it was fun to meet other guests. Not a bad seat in the house too. I'd recemmend it. In fact, we might have to do it again this summer.
it does include unlimited beer and wine besides the mai tais.
also has a childrens buffet table.
i have been to Germaine's luau show in Honolulu and thought the one at RPH was a pretty good replica of the show i have seen before.
i enjoyed the luau at the darkside.
decent entertainment for the entire family.
you can go to rph at 6, maybe 6:30 pool area and see the free conch calling and hula dancing in the evening.
after the dances, all kids are invited to join in.
it's free entertainment.
i went in the fall and the luau was only held on saturday evenings.
it is also offered on tuesdays seasonally.
We are tentatively planning to stay at RPR when we go down in Sept, but haven't made our final choice. I may have to call them to find out if they will have the Tuesday show when we go as we will be staying mid-week.

i was there the first week of october last year.
they only had the saturday performance then.
i stay in tower 3, upper floor.
the saturday evening event was located where i could see it all from my room.
the conch calling and hula demonstration that is, not the luau.
the luau is in the back under a cover and i had no view of it from where i my room was located.
the deserts.............ah........save room for them!
i know they have the luau two days of the week during the summer.
sept is usually the low period so i hope if you go then, they will have the luau.
it is such a nice performance and dinner.
For those that have been in the summer, how is the heat? We will be there in July and the luau looks like sooo much fun. I don't want to be sweating too much after a day in the park.

We went in August, so we were hot & sweaty the whole time we were there, it's' the way FL is in the summer and there really is no way to avoid that, but I don't remember being uncomfortable at the luau. It was under a large tent, so nice & shady. There may have been fans, I can't remember.
