Where have you all gone for your luaus while staying at Aulani?

We want something with food and drinks.....

We enjoyed Paradise Cove. It is within walking distance from Aulani and includes food and drinks. There are three different levels, and I would opt for the top two tiers vs the lower one.

We went to Paradise Cove as well. Thought the show was good and the activities before were entertaining for a bit. The food was less than spectacular though. None of us really enjoyed the pork or the sides to be honest. And we are pork lovers!

That being said, every luau that I have seen reviews about gets mixed comments. Seems to be a matter of personal taste.

We attended the Paradise Cove luau in January 2013. We paid for the "orchid" package. The seats were OK, and the food OK. I hope you're getting the idea -- the experience was only OK. The staff seemed more intent on selling the latest "specialty" drink than promoting Polynesian culture. We much preferred the Starlit Hui at Aulani.

While it won't supply the drinks portion, my preference for Oahu is the Polynesian Cultural center with the Luau Package. It's not a tradition luau setup but I think it's better. There is a coupon in the Entertainment book that gives you up to $40 off on a second person and that can be applied to a package. Even if booked ahead, one can get a refund when you check in.

We did the Polynesian Cultural center, during an afternoon trip to the North coast. I have to admit we were pleasantly surprised. I wish I had arrived earlier in the morning rather than 3pm. So much to see and do and good entertainment. The food was OK. Buffet style.

I have never read or heard of the food being spectacular at the Luao's in Hawaii and I therefore recommend doing what we did. We had a nice dinner and then watched the show at Aulani. It was wonderful and FREE! We had the best time.

It's an ok show but not good luau quality. I was pretty unimpressed because I've been to a couple of actual luaus in Hawaii. I'd definitely do a luau for a better show even if the food is mediocre.

I want to try the PCC next time because I keep hearing about it. What exactly is it? Is it a big area a or shopping mall or something. What all do they have there? Is there an excursion from Aulani if you don't have a car?

In short the Polynesian center consists of multiple areas or small villages, which are suppose to represent the different Polynesian islands. They have different demonstrations, such as natural firemaking, weaving grass, story telling, traditional dances, etc. There are raft rides down the stream, big screen films on Hawaii, stores, the Lua with your buffet meal, as well as the highlight evening show. Alot of the staff/actors are students from the local university who work there to help fund their education.
We used a car we had rented for the week, but Aulani did sell tickets with roundtrip shuttle transportation, this was April 2014.
