LTT and Stouffers question...

Ok,

So I know that Liberty Tree Tavern is sponsored by Stouffers and use some (if not all) of their food.

And I know a lot of people, when they eat there, don't really enjoy the food and/or say it tastes identical or a lot like Stouffer's frozen foods. Some do compare it positively cause they like Stouffers...basically, I've seen a lot of people just make the comparison in general, whether they like Stouffer's or not.

And it's fine either way, I have absolutely no problem if people don't like the food there even if I do like it there. I'm sure there are many places others like that i don't like or places that I share opinions about. Everyone has their own taste buds that likes their own things. And very few people have control over what their taste buds like and don't like! I wish i'd enjoy more healthy foods but my taste buds don't always! ;)

So here's the thing...I have had both LTT food (multiple times) and stouffer's frozen food (also, multiple times). They dont really taste the same to me...

Now one reason MIGHT be cause i usually microwave the Stouffer's foods ive gotten (specifically mac&cheese and the Turkey dinner). And im "guessing" LTT doesnt microwave it :)

But still, the actual texture of some of the food seems different to me. Like, for example, the stuffing (some call it dressing) seems a very different texture and appearance, such that even microwaving vs. oven cooking wouldn't change/make it look like LTT. Turkey is different too. Mashed potatoes are mostly the same.

So is there like another type of Stouffers frozen turkey dinners or mac adn cheese? I'm really confused about this. Cause enough people on this board (many of them of which I have similar opinoins to with Disney food) have made the stouffers/LTT comparison and basically, im just wondering...

Am i missing out on LTT-like food that I could be getting at home!? Yeah, sure its not IN the MK so therefore there's a strike against it of course, but having that stuffing whenever I want would be AWESOME :)

When I ate at LTT for the first time (in Feb.) I didn't know the food was Stouffer's and couldn't tell it when I ate. When I read later that that's what it was I was suprised!! It tasted delish to me and my hubby!

I don't have an answer to your question, but that makes a lot of sense knowing that Nestle owns Stouffers.. Although I could ask some coworkers who's spouses work at Nestle/Stouffers that I know!

When we ate dinner there, we liked it, there was plenty to eat and it was warm, hot and cold when it was suppose to be and we knew it was sponsered by Stoffers. I guess we go with the attitude its not going to be gormet, its the atmosphere we are after and it works for us. I just try to remember where I am at and not try and look for every little thing to complain about. We walked away full and very pleased...smjj

My DH and I thought the food was really tasty - it did not taste like a frozen dinner at all, the quality was good - and there is no comparison IMO.

Now maybe I'm wrong, but I thought the only thing made by Stouffer's was the macaroni & cheese. A company can be a sponsor of something and not provide all of the food items... and the turkey at LTT is definitely not like what's in a frozen entree. :confused3 ... Of course, this is my opinion.

We also liked the LTT's character interaction (and we don't have any kids yet). It was our very first character meal, and we have great memories of it.

Also, no matter what, the macaroni and cheese that Disney gets is going to be VERY different from what's in the grocery store. They most likely have a different recipe for Disney, as well as the possibility it probably does not get frozen beforehand.

I don't think there's any way that the turkey, steak and ham are from a frozen stouffers meal, and for that matter, probably the only thing is the mac and cheese and to me it didn't taste like it was frozen either. Like someone else said, just because it is sponsored by stouffers doesn't necessarily mean that the entire meal is made by stouffers. I don't know if everyone realizes this but most food companies produce food items that are strictly used as institutional sizes, or like for instance only made for distribution to restaurants, and not sold in stores, so having said what I said earlier, and realizing it for myself, I guess it is possible for all of the meal to be made by stouffers, maybe just not items that are readily available to grocery stores. I don't know!! I do know I liked the food there and so did the rest of my family. I guess you could ask them next time you eat there. :confused3

If I remember correctly it is only the Mac & Cheese that is by Stouffers and it is not frozen.

Wow..

Thanks to everyone for all their input, i really appreciate it :goodvibes

This particularly caught my attention: Miniefan said: " I don't know if everyone realizes this but most food companies produce food items that are strictly used as institutional sizes, or like for instance only made for distribution to restaurants, and not sold in stores, so having said what I said earlier, and realizing it for myself, I guess it is possible for all of the meal to be made by stouffers, maybe just not items that are readily available to grocery stores."

That's a very good observation, i hadn't considered that. So it all could very well be made by Stouffer's...but just in a different way then they make their regular consumer food products. It seems a lot of you who responded do agree with me that LTT doesnt taste like supermarket Stouffers (and also provided good reasons for that) even if some or all of the food may be sponsored/prepared by them.

I never get confused or upset when someone doesn't like the same food as me, i just get confused when someone says "these two foods taste the same" when they don't taste the same to me, you know? I don't mind not liking a food, but it kinda boggles me when I'm not able to at least identify both foods and compare them! So i just wanted to see what you all thought, thanks a lot again :)

And as an aside, Liberty Tree does happen to be my favorite restaurant and i dream of their food when I'm not there :)

I think the LTT lunch menu is much better than dinner. My dd8 declared it the best cheeseburger she's ever eaten.

We always make LTT a must do for lunch.

I thought the dinner food was okay. The strawberry dressing on the salad was delicious. The rolls are too die for! Great character interaction.
