7 night western

Ocean view $660 ( half of what I paid for Jan)
Balcony $1,882 ( not great but ok)

Aren' they also called "Interline" rates? I have a friend who is an airline pilot and he regularly gets offers for great deals on travel....I believe you must work for an airline, though and some interline rates are offered to DHL, UPS and FedEx employees.

UPS employees receive a discount? Who do you contact to receive the discount? Any info would be greatly appreciated!:)

I also got this email from Dargal, however when you actually log in the price for a verandah was $713 and an inside room was $413. There was nothing for $290. I just called them to double check and they don't have anything for $290.

great rates like this generally sell out very quickly. That is why they are no longer available. You have to jump on some of them.

Okay so........it is weird, because under the Disney Cruises, this is what it says: - "Employees of cargo or overnight freight airlines (FedEx, DHL,UPS, etc.) are NOT eligible"

Not sure what that is about. Are FedEx/UPS employees eligible or not?

Has anyone booked through them?

I'm an airline employee and booked our last two cruises with the discount. Our first one was $2100 for 4 in a cat. 9. The last one was two cat. 6's the week of Thanksgiving for $5000. They are really great prices, the only problem is they open up around 30 days out so you can't plan in advance. Our next one we are paying full price because we are going with lots of family and wanted to be near each other and wanted connecting staterooms (we are now a family of 5) We are going off season and in two cat. 7's and paying $1000 MORE than when we had two 6's the week of Thanksgiving. If anyone is planning on using the airline employee discount--go directly through DCL. Interline and Dargal add on a small charge per person, so it's cheaper to do it through DCL.

ITA with this. We book straight with DCL, it is A LOT less than what is advertised.:thumbsup2

I guess not all cruiselines honor the discount to overnight freight companies like Fed Ex, so according to what you posted I would say DCL does not participate.

Dargal charges a fee, but there are other companies that don't such as The Cruise Company.

yeah I just was not sure if anyone had actually given it a go, and what they had found out.

If the major discounts are only available at 30 days out, I wonder if u could book with disney or du, and then transfer it over to the Interline travel, and get the cheap price?

At 30 days out, you would be paid in full, so maybe they would apply the balance as onboard credits?

I think the interline rate is for new bookings only.

I have not had luck with making a reservation and then transferring into an interline rate. First, you must understand that these rates are limited to a particular group (have to show ID or risk being charged full fare at the port). Secondly, not all, in fact, very few, agencies deal with interline rates. I don't believe DU does. I was not aware that DCL deals with these rates directly. This is a change from a few years ago when they told me I had to use an interline agency.
If you have a reservation with DU or any TA, it is bad form, if not impossible to transfer it to another agency.
When I have inquired in the past about booking a regular rate with an interline agency (they will do that) and the hoping for an interline rate to come out, I believe I was told that in order to get the interline rate, I would have to cancel and then rebook: read: lose deposit or more due to the late release of the rate; potentially lose the room I have selected and lose the dining time I have requested. Maybe someone else has had a different experience with this?
I have been able to get a price adjustment (on another line) when the interline rate went down. Don't know if DCL will do this with this rate like they do with others.

I was actually under the impression that it was pretty simple to transfer between ta's or agencies.........am I wrong?

Yes, I believe you are. Here is the question asked:

Q - I want to use your service, but I have already made my reservations through my Travel Agent.

A - Out of professional courtesy, we can not convert reservations held by other Travel Agents.

It is not easy at all.....think about it. if you booked a client a trip you expect a commission from the vendor for your services....if your client then comes to you and tells you they want to take the reservation away from you and give it to another TA.....are you going to be willing to do that and lose your commission for the work you have done. Not likely.

It is very easy to transfer ressies from DCL directly to a TA but not from TA to TA. I agree it is bad form and the only reason that would prompt such an action would be total incompetance on the part of the first TA.

I did this with DCL last year - however we had booked the entire cruise through DCL, rather than an online agent (interline or otherwise). It was great - we paid for cat 11, gty, then about 6 weeks out, I'd start calling twice a week to see if they had released interline rates - when they did, I was able to book at cat 5, gratuity included for $86 additional dollars!!

Disney has a dedicated interline phone number that services cruise, WDW, DL, etc. It's 407-828-3111. Be aware, you'll need to fax proof of Employment within 48 hours or they will bump your ressie up to rack rate.
