Lowes didn't want our $4000

We had carpet done several years ago and the company does not haul away old carpet. They did allow for us to bring the old carpet to them and throw it into one of the warehouse dumpsters. Call your trash company and see what they suggest.

PK1,

I had a problem with Lowe's when I bought a washing machine.
Without calling first they knowingly delivered a dented washer.
They apparently had an undamaged washer in stock on the computer, but not in their warehouse.
And I was going to have to take another day to wait for another delivery.

I sent an email to the Lowe's corporate hq.
The district manager called and then the store manager called.
The dent did not show, so I asked for a good discount on the dented washer.
Got a great deal actually.
The manager called back a week later to make sure that I was still happy.

So I would really recommend calling and talking to the manager.
You have already spent valuable time with this deal and it would be a shame to have to start the process again if it can be taken care of with a phone call.

Around here they will not pick up used carpet either.
And a lot of commercial places keep their dumpsters locked to keep unwanted trash out.
When my sister was having her house worked on she had a dumpster in the front yard and someone sneaked in at night and dumped a lot of used carpet in her dumpster. It's about $300 per dumpster load for disposal.

When we used the small local company we paid $500 at the time we ordered the carpet and the balance when installation was completed (and we were satisfied).

Good deal! We would definitely consider that. Gosh, we were all ready to pay the $4000 up front to Lowes. I would much rather pay something up front and the rest upon my satisfaction. :thumbsup2

My Dh is a Flooring installor. He does carpet and vinyl and linoleum. Where he subcontracts at asks for half up front and then when the job is complete then the other half is paid. there is many times that he has to pick up checks from the customers when he is finished with the job.

Please think about giving your business to the local businesses. i know where my DH subcontracts at is so slow right now, he has worked there for 12 years and it has never ever been as bad as it is right now.I know they would appreciate it more than you would ever know.

I am addicted to our local flooring place.

They have the BEST customer service and they are so nice/ happy for our business.

Visit your local stores:cloud9:

My daughter just bought carpeting from Lowes. We knew about the additional charge for moving furniture and hauling away because it stated it on the ad. This wasn't a concern to her because she just bought the home and there is no furniture and her DF is taking care of the old carpeting. She is getting the living room, hallway, family room and 1 bedroom done. She not only gets the $139 install deal, they also let her use the 10% coupon that they offer to "New Movers".~:)~
