if you have high blood pressure and went on medication how long did it take to lower your pressure. Mine was quite high and now i'm worried. I want to start an exercise program but before I do too much I want the bp to be lower. The dr who prescribed the meds said it would be ok but i'm still concerned. I'll also feel better when it's under control.
I'm going to implement a number of healthful changes too but i'll still need the script until it's gone down some.

If the doc says it's ok, maybe you could start the exercising routine slowly and build up over time? I think even a short walk could be a good start(since the doc said it's ok to get started). Good luck, and don't feel too badly if you need the meds for a while. :)

i've been walking for awhile. I'm just worried now that I found out how high the bp was. It could also be being triggered she felt by my asthma which was really bad and by a bad gum abscess. We treated both of these today.

Good for you for doing the walking. I have been taking meds and dealing with high BP for over 15 years now. Good luck with addressing those other issues, I hope it makes your BP lower. :)

When I was 19 I had borderline high blood pressure ( 140/90) but my Doc recommended I start taking calcium and magnesium. Since I have done this...my BP has gone to 120/70 or near there. No drugs or anything....this only works for slightly elevated pressures, but I just wanted to put the info out there. :)

i'm planning on taking calcium, magnesium, potassium, C, E, Coq10, grape seed extract among other food items. I'm hoping I can find a heart healthy supplement that combines these things.

what kind of dose did they recommend? or what works for you?

20 mgs of Benicar. She said because the side effect of some meds is coughing and I have asthma I couldn't take most of them.
