Just talked to MS and there are now lower point requirements for DLR through 12/06!!! I don't know all the details but the dates I checked for Oct. '05 were 23 pts. per night instead of 31. I logged onto the DVC member site and tried to pull up the DLR point chart and got a message that it was currently unavailable so I am hoping that means it is being updated right now.

In saying DL you mean DIsneyland in CA correct!?

If so, I know where some of our points are gonig to be used now!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I called also, and got 23 points per weeknight for this May.

Didn't check other dates though. The CM confirmed the special rate is only for Disneyland Hotel, and not the other hotels.

Hmm. I spoke with a cast member an hour ago, and she told me it was going to be for all Disneyland resorts, which I hope is the case, as I have ressies for the GC on points.

Awesome! Just got off the phone with MS. We had booked DL for 31 a night. She cancelled that, and rebooked at 23. Extra points were reverted back to DVC points and can be banked!! Love it! :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Peace,

Hmmmmm. I wonder why. Could be that their either trying to gauge DVC owners' interest in DVC-CA, or trying to get us all in the habit of using points at Disneyland Resort.

Maybe want more people to come to the 50th celebration....

or maybe lowering the pp for now, so they can sell DL DVC...???? and then raise pp later, like the cruises....

Low introductory rate....

Thanks for the update....we were going to stay off-site in November. But now.....hmmmmmmm! Sounds enticing. I'll be calling MS me-thinks :goodvibes .

THANKS LISA!

DD and I are thinking a long weekend in October or November! I have been pricing out hotels. DH is being left at home so I will have to okay the points usage with him! :cool1:

Are they going to automatically adjust our reservations or is it going to be necessary for us to call?

JimC, when I called MS on another issue yesterday and inquired about the reduced points at DL, the person I spoke with said they were calling everyone who currently has reservations. She said that I should receive a call about it by the end of next week (at least that's when they are hoping to complete making the calls).

This makes perfect sense to me, IF they are going to build DVC in California. Since they obviously can't build a DVC resort in DL overnight, they definitely want to start selling the memberships right away, however, the people who buy in the early stages need a California point usage option prior to completion of the resort. Viola! Lower point requirements at the DLH! I suspect we will see the same thing at both of the other hotels, IF my/our predictions of the California DVC are correct. I am California Dreaming....... :rockband:

I wish they would have announced this sooner before be booked and paid off a cash stay for next month since the points were so high at the time. :(

Amonth ago the EPCOT DVC rep told me ALL WDW Resorts (NON DVC) points wre going to be reduced substantially. Maybe DL is just the begining.

Karen, thank you. That is good news and what I thought Disney would do.

That's a very good conclusion. Another would be they are selling SSR points and want to make it more attractive for folks to use those points in their own backyard.

Time will tell...

Yep, I received a call and received 10 points back on my DLH reservation for this summer, of course my GC reservation didn't change. I had to borrow points to make the reservation, and they were put back in my 2006 use year.

Thought that I would try Member site for the points for GC and the point chart for all DL resorts is still down. From what has been said here, it seems that the reduction is only going to happen with DLR. Has anyone been contacted about a reduction on GC? We have a reservation for 4 nights in August. Since we had to borrow some of our points for this reservation, will they put them back into the original year if we do get a discount?

Someone reported on another thread that their guide told them the decrease in points was for all 3 DL hotels.

It was me who posted on another thread that someone at MS told me that the reduction would be at all three resorts (which I was hoping for), but jel0511 posted two posts above that her GC wasn't reduced, so I guess I got incorrect information. :(
