Lower Fast Pass numbers?

Virtual queues sound nice... but all those people have to wait somewhere... and if you have them on all popular and semi-popular rides? That's a lot of people wandering the park within a short distance of the ride. Or crowded around the outside of the ride waiting for their entry time :(
Not if you cut park capacity by half (or more).

Right now my flight is falling thru the cracks. Change fees are waived for March, April, and May flights and tickets purchased between March 1st and May 31. I purchased in February and my flight is June 7. 😕 I expect they will waive the fees for this time frame, too, but we will see. If I don't get the waiver, I will probably suck it up and pay the change fee. I already overpaid for the tickets, so I don't want to lose them. (I know, so add more $$$:D) Maybe I will try to call Delta though.
Oh dang, that stinks :( . This trip has had to be changed twice, it was a last minute trip for the end of March that I booked at the beginning of March, then moved to May because I was a little too optimistic, and then moved to the very end of August. Maybe it was because I bought them in March originally, but I do remember seeing an email where they stated change fees would be waived through December, just odd. I bought my ticket using skymiles and only have to pay $11.20, so I'm not out a lot of money if I have to pay any fees or just cancel, but I don't want to loose those miles.

How DO people get these so fast? Honestly, I understand the concept for staffing, etc. But, as a guest it is frustrating!

Eek. My FP day is in May for our July trip. I do have EMM booked one day so while I’d be sad if I couldn’t get mine train, it would be ok because we could do during the EMM.

Although at this point I just hope that we can go. 😩

So sad... there was really nothing left when I tried my FP+ this morning. Couldn't even get Toy Story, no roller coasters for June 8 through 12. I don't know if we will be going anyway due to current situation (and don't know if Disney will be open) but I was keeping my hopes up. I can't even plan a virtual vacation right now. I miss my DISNEY!!!!!!
This was us as well today...so crazy.

My trip overlaps yours, but I was able to get my FP+ on the 5th and those days had plenty at that time. I'm thinking it's all the reschedules. I'm wondering if things will begin opening up again as people cancel.

I think there's a chance in for early June if the parks stay closed all the way through May, some of those 60+s will cancel because they'd lose the first week of their trip. maybe. Not wishing it on anyone, but it's a thought.

I'm struggling to find the motivation to wake up early on Monday to search for FP+ for our June 12-19 trip considering A) we're not even sure the trip will happen at all and B) the reports of horrible FP's anyway. Trying to decide if I just log in whenever and see what we can get. It sounds like some people have had some success and others have found nothing. Is it still worth waking up for?

I'm sure I'll still end up waking up for it, but I sure will be grumbling a lot more about it than usual, especially with the lack of sleep leading up to attempting to homeschool 3 children

Hello all,

I also wanted to check in about the limited FP availability when I booked for our June trip. Some of the headliners were hard to get, but we will be there 9 days, so I was able to get every ride I wanted but some only at the very end of our trip (MMRR being the hardest of these, but was available at the end of our trip). But the most odd was that BTMRR was not available until day 7, and even then I wasn't able to book it for 5 people at one time (I have 3 of us in one group and 2 of us in another group and those times don't even overlap and that was on 60+7, it wasn't available at all before that).

Really though, I am just hoping we will be able to go at all in June. I will be happy if the parks are open, and those first few days being more pool days with a few non-headliner rides. I just want to be there, so I hope they are open, I don't care what rides I ride.

I do have 3 FP for every day of our trip, but on day one, for instance, our FP are for BLSRS, Pooh, and Space. So not bad since I consider Space a hard one. By day 7 I was able to get SDMT, Splash, and BTMRR (in two groups).

After I booked my FP, I started checking this for early June, then I got a little obsessed, and I made a chart, so in case it helps anyone else, I took a few notes of fastpass availability 60+ days out for June 2020. This search was done around lunchtime, so if you are on at 7am, you will see a little better availability, but I only looked for 1 person, so maybe worse... this was the earliest these rides were available (these were the hardest rides to get):

I just got mine for our June trip this morning. I was afraid I wouldn't get much, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. Definitely much, much worse than usual, but not as bad as I thought. We have an 11 day trip, so of course, days 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 were open. Those who have 5 or fewer days are going to have fastpass disappointment. Those who are staying off site should expect to have fastpasses for Muppet Vision, Barnstormer, It's Tough to Be a Bug, and Journey Into the Imagination- but not much else.

HS is the hardest. I would suggest getting those first. Even day four had no top tier attractions available at all.

For day one at MK, it was slim pickins. None of the big ones available at all, even at night (Space, Splash, BTMRR, SDMT, PPF- all gone). Got Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, and Meet Mickey Mouse.

Day two at AK had no FOP or NRJ, but I did get EE in the afternoon. KS also available, but not until 6 pm.

Day three at Epcot was better. All three of the Tier 1 were available, but nothing for TT until 3 pm (we got Soarin' at 11:15- Frozen was available at noon).

Day four HS was slim pickins. None of the top tier rides available. Got ToT, Star Tours, and RnR.

Day five at AK got Navi, EE, and KS. No FOP available at all on Day 5.

Day six MK was easy. Got Splash, Space, and SDMT all pretty early.

Everything after that was easy.

So unless you have a 6+ day trip, you will likely have some disappointment. There will be rides you won't be able to get. Nonetheless, I think I will be quite happy if the parks are open and we can actually go and feel some sense of safety and security. That has yet to be determined.

I don't think Disney has to change anything and this would be the case. Remember you have people normally traveling in June, people who postponed a trip to then, and most everyone is locked in at home with no other thing to do than plan for their Disney Trip.

Unless Disney steps in and actually cancels trips I don't see them not being packed parks unless we still have stay at home orders which make more people reconsider.

Alternative is removing option for offsite day guests from entering the parks which I think there might be at least some sort of hybrid of.

Well this doesn't look promising for my rescheduled trip on June 21-25. :sad2: We never do long trips so I am at a huge disadvantage.

I know everything is up in the air, but how does reduced FP's help the standby lines from not being incredibly packed? Maybe it will be virtual queues, but then you will still have people milling all around. :confused3 I understand they are still trying to figure it all out themselves, but if people won't be able to ride headliners then what is the point?

less people in fast pass line means people get through standby line faster

Not if a ton of people are in the standby line because no one could get FP's. And how would crammed standby lines be safer for social distancing? I am sure they have a reason, but I would love to hear the explanation behind it.

What's interesting is room availability for the same time frame. I regulraly check out the current passholder special with the thought of switching resorts. There is a TON of availability with the passholder discount for early to mid-June across multiple resorts.

Right and yet some people still believe the FP availability issue is because of demand. It’s 100% because Disney has drastically reduced the number available.

So then what is the general thought then? Assuming Disney is open this summer (very uncertain of course) is it going to be packed, dead or somewhere in between? We have a mid July off-site trip planned and i just don’t see it being worth it reading most of the posts.

Yeah. Dining reservations are still wide open, too. I don't think there is any way that Disney has released their typical amount of fastpasses for June. Even with a lot of people traveling, the low availability is telling. I've been when the parks were crazy packed for Easter week, and fastpass availability was much better than now.

I am also thinking of all the international travelers who don't even know if they can get flights to the U.S. in June, or if they will have to be quarantined when they get here. That has to cut down on attendance. Can flights to the U.S. even be booked for June right now?

Even if they could book flights, I imagine many international travelers would choose not to come this summer for fear of being in a foreign country and contracting the virus. Due to the all the rumors that parks may not be operating at capacity, others would probably be hesitant to invest the money they need for a U.S. trip when they don't know what is even going to be open.

This is the strangest Disney planning I have ever experienced. So much is up in the air.

My best guess at this point (and I am sure I am wrong, but my little brain is running like a hamster on a wheel at this) is that they are going to have reduced max capacity. And I know they are all showing up online, but I have a feeling many hotels won't be open either. What is the point of having full hotels if only half of the occupants can get into the park? So with reduced max capacity, reduced hotels, they will save by reducing staffing.

How all that equates to reduced FP's is still a conundrum to me. If you reduce FP in half, and still have a long standby line it defeats the purpose. There must be a logical explanation, but you'd think having people wait in a 20 minute line vs a 60 minute line would be more productive. :confused3 Unless they are reducing it in the hopes people will shift their vacations to a later date when some of our social restrictions won't be as high.

I wonder if they will restrict park entry to resort guests only? That way they can really limit numbers on capacity.
