Lower crowds or Ratatouille- which you choose?

This will be our last trip for a few years. With all the speculation that Ratatouille will be open by Memorial Day weekend, I am tempted to be prepared to move our plans back if the announcement is made . We are set to leave the Wednesday before. Other than the expense of changing the ticket dates and adjusting our B reservation it seems like something to consider. We were already bummed that BTM reopens 2 days after we leave.

We had a similar experience and the Frozen ride opened shortly after our trip. My girls were super disappointed that we were barely missing it, but at the same time, I cannot imagine waiting in those initial lines and we were not about to spend extra money to change our plans, the stress of changing ADRs, etc. I really think it's up to you. How much more is it going to cost? Is it going to really bother you to have missed it? I'd weigh everything out if you're on the fence.

Since it will be several years before you return, I would change my dates. I would move my trip to the latter part of June or later, just in case the ride opening is delayed.

This also gives some time for people to get a sense of how the new ride affects crowds, 4th FP availability, etc. If you were to move it, I'd agree to do it in such a way that you're building in that buffer.

Have they announced the opening dates yet? I thought it wasn't slated until later in the Summer. I'm wasn't even certain if it was going to open in time for our trip at Labour Day.

I'm a "path of least resistance" kind of gal, so I'd pick lower crowds for sure. A. Lower crowds. B. Not trying to deal with the stress of getting on a very brand new ride.

I'd rather wait a few years and ride it when it's no longer as new. I realize this makes me weird. 😄

Spaceship Earth closes May 26th for 2 years. People are speculating Rat will open just before or just after to help absorb some of the crowds and have another ride open

Even before the Spaceship Earth closing date was announced, I had read that when it says opening in summer, they usually shoot for Memorial Day weekend. That’s really what starts off the summer season for them. We are going the first week of June. It’s predicted to be moderate crowds, decent weather, and hopefully we will get lucky!

A lot is coming to Epcot over the next year+. Ratatouille is only the beginning, the crowds have been insane in Epcot as a lot of the park is closed. I wouldn't make any major adjustments just for Rat based on what the crowds have looked like. Epcot was a crowded nightmare when we were there a few weeks ago, I was actually considering skipping it my next trip in the fall.... I would personally go for lower crowds!

Epcot is in the midst of a huge overhaul and it makes the park a bit difficult when crowded. That being said, there is no real lower season on crowds. May-Early June may not be as bad as later if you want busy crowds vs very busy crowds. I have not heard an opening date for Rat as of yet. There are a lot of assumptions.

I can’t push the date past the holiday weekend. My DH and I have those 2 weeks vacation already scheduled. We have 10 day tickets. The cost to change the reservation is less than $30. I am going to keep an eye out for when the opening is announced. I can make FPs on Monday. Even if it does open Memorial Day weekend, I will hesitate to redo FPs if I get some good ones.
