Low rise jeans are not for everyone!

Walking thru town on Saturday and was almost blinded by what I witnessed. I saw a woman (mid 20's) who had low rise jeans on. However, her fat rolls hung out over her pants and down the sides of her jeans. She literally, and I kid you not, had to lift up a fat roll with one hand and use the other hand to answer her cell phone in her pocket. This wouldn't have been so bad but she had the skin tight babydoll tank top on with this ensemble. I think I heard this phenomeon called muffin topping on another DIS thread. This name fit perfectly to this situation.

Ladies if you have to pull rolls up to get in your pockets, please don't try low rise jeans. This public service announcement was brought to you by iwantahemi.

You're right...they're definitely not for everyone. I want to extend a personal thank you to the teen who bent down to get something off the shelf at WalMart and exposed my young son and daughter to her entire thong. What are these people thinking? Did anyone tell ever bother to tell them that this is not only inappropriate but gross?

:crazy2:

Muffin topping...LOL!! :rotfl2:

I agree, those jeans are definitely not for everyone.

Sometimes when I go shopping with DD, I'll see young girls who are overweight and wearing really low-rise jeans. I just want to take them aside and say, "Honey, just because you're young doesn't mean that every fashion trend will suit you. Let me help you find something else." :teeth: I've already taught this lesson to dd but I wish I could share this with other young girls who need to know!

I always feel so sorry for them.

The sad fact is that there are no stylish alternatives for the overweight teen. They want to look stylish and, at age 14, they aren't quite ready for the LL Bean or Lands End stuff. I just wish they would make the flared leg jeans with a higher waist.

Sometimes accidents happen, not that I would know. ;) On that note I would like to send out a personal apology to those who witnessed my thong at Epcot on Saturday night. I am not used to taking care of a young child, and I wasn't dressed appropriately for the task. I went to sit on the ground with her, and well I exposed myself a little for like 5 seconds. :rotfl:

I like the biscuit girl phrase (think pilsbury the kind that come in rolls and explode when you open them!) :rotfl:

BTW it isn't so bad if they would just wear tops that go down to the pants! Not eveyones midrif looks like Britney spears. (then again since she had a baby hers might look more like mine! Why does that make me feel oddly good? :goodvibes :teeth: )

My personal pet-peve with low rise jeans is...

"Plumbers crack" is one thing on a guy... but on a girl. Um... no thanks!

That's so true.

My SIL likes to say"Just because they make it in your size DOES NOT mean you should wear it."

Yes! It is so nasty. I do my best not to have anything bulging out, why don't they? :confused3

If you see me and I have a muffin top, please pull me over and slap me. Thanks. :)

I just discovered that Old Navy has a higher waisted jeans. I belive they sit "Just below the waist". They're much more flattering!

My dh always says that there should be a weight limit on spandex - the same rule should apply to ultra low rise jeans! Even some skinny people shouldn't wear them.

I just wish they'd quit making the stupid things altogether! You can't blame the people for having to wear them, because that's all you can find these days. Especially where I live, there aren't that many options in clothing stores.

I'm in plus sizes (not saying what size, just plus  ) and the only jeans I've been able to find in the past couple of years are more low rise than I want. I always wear my shirts untucked, so it's not a matter of everyone seeing my flab, but every time I raise an arm or reach for something, the shirt rises up and shows it. Plus they just don't feel right to me.

AND, I'm so sick and tired of having to buy them for my DD! Ever since she was 7, all I could find for her were low-rises. I had to get my little girl bikini panties because she always got embarrassed by her underwear sticking out over top of her pants. There is absolutely nothing attractive about a little girl in low-rise pants, so why are they even making them? :confused3
