Low on towels

This. I don't think that I've ever used more than 1 towel at a time for any reason - home, pool, or hotel room.

"I'm mad at the resort because I temporarily don't get to use an excessive amount of towels" seems like a first world problem to me.
Being its a luxury resort in Hawaii every problem is a first world problem.

One towel per person today because they are low on towels. Yesterday, my DD was able to get 4 towels for her and her sister but three separate trips today have been 1 per person. Ridiculous.
Update and clarification:

This was for the pool. I always ask for two towels per person and don’t think this is unreasonable. We aren’t excessive with our towel use and turn those in before we request more.

I understand Disney would rather limit to 1 per person than not have any available but that doesn’t excuse poor planning for a known peak crowd. Two of us went up to get towels and were only allowed to receive two towels in total for the four of us. I was told the other two people in our party needed to come get their own for us to get more towels.

In their defense, this was an only an issue on Sunday and hasn’t been a problem since. Hopefully, it was an isolated incident.

Sounds like they must have had a commercial washer or dryer go down for a day.

I went to the towel shack this afternoon (1/2) for the first time around 3:40PM and asked for 3 towels, because I knew when I was getting out it would be cold and suspected my kids (who had been swimming with their dad) probably had wet towels from earlier swim use, they handed me 3 towels (which were beigish-yellow) and then said “this is the very last cart of towels for the day so don’t lose them.” 😬

If they had told me they were low before handing them to me I would have at least down shifted to two, if not one, but I would also have been mildly annoyed they couldn’t supply enough towels to have dry ones for my kids coming out of the pool. FWIW, the Ritz-Carlton where we stayed earlier this week also ran out of towels periodically during the day each day we were there, but always replenished them within an hour.

Having seen so many towels flung across unattended chairs after 4pm in the afternoon, I suspect part of the shortage is due to many people taking extra towels specifically to hold chairs and then not clearing them when they head back to the rooms just in case they want them later.

Yes, this is the problem, exactly. On three trips to Aulani, honestly the most obnoxious guest behavior I saw was that so very many people just leave their wet towels on their chairs at the end of their pool or beach time for the day. Not only does it make it hard to tell which chairs might be unoccupied, but how entitled could a person be to assume that someone else wants to clean up after them?
