Low offer guilt

I just sent in a low offer, and I feel guilty doing it, why?
Baylake 80 points (109 pts available now (80+29banked + 80 coming Feb 1, 2021 asking $160 ($12,800)
I put in an offer for $145 ($11,600)
I have been waiting on a 50pt Feb use year, then I saw this and figured what's a few extra points? So what the heck, if I don't get it I will just keep looking!
I just don't feel like the points for the next year are as valuable as they once were, plus I think $160 is a little high, or do I need to reset my expectations?

I don't even think that's a low ball offer. There was plenty of BLT in the 130s and low 140s at the end of 2019. Larger contracts, but still.

I don't understand why you would feel guilty, it's not like you are making them sell. They can always say no if they think they can do better.

That is what I was thinking, I have a few other contacts and I never put in an offer that was that low before.

I think the smaller point contracts are still going for ~$150’s so if that’s where you expect to end up, you’d probably have to bid about where you started. No need to feel guilty! You might get surprised with a great deal or the seller will counter/decline.

I thought this was going to be something like $110 or $120. $145 is very reasonable and not a "low offer" IMO. I saw that contract come up and consider it a high asking. Of course it may sell for that too which is why owners ask!

Someone will probably offer asking price anyway, so all your guilt is for nothing, lol.

Seriously, you should offer what you think the contract is worth and not worry about it. You don't control, and aren't responsible for, anyone else's reaction.

I think the OP is young and that could be a reason as well to her thinking.

Fair point, if true. That is the best part of having turned 50, and now being in my mid-50s, is that some things are just much more matter of fact with experience. But I remember being young and learning the ropes. It is not easy!

I offered $20 below asking on a BWV contract and it was accepted, the sellers didn't even attempt to counter. It was a 300 pt contract so that may have been a factor.
