My husband, DD 12, DD 9 and I have the opportunity to attend a Halloween Party this October. We are in the area for other reasons and are going to be able to surprise our girls with the party. Since we will be flying and are surprising the girls, we won't have room for elaborately planned, big costumes. Any ideas for costumes would be welcomed. I had thought about a themed shirt and ears of a favorite character, but don't know if that would be festive enough. TIA.

I usually just wear a Halloween Tshirt. You can buy those when you get there if you want to. Not everyone dresses up. Some people take it to the extreme. Others are just wearing normal clothes. I think your idea is fine and festive.

We went last year in August. Since we knew it would be crazy hot my mom wore orange and red to go with her Pooh Ears and I wore a purple shirt and jean pants to go with my eeyore ears and tail and we fit in just fine. There will be some people that really go all out with elaborate costumes, but also some that don’t dress up at all. The kids (DD4 and 7) wore princess costumes. I think a T-shirt and ears would work out well. You could even do a themed group of characters.

I didnt want anything too crazy either and wanted something easy to pack, so I did a white tee shirt and went to the $ store and bought a couple bags of those spider rings and cut the ring part off and hot glued a bunch of spiders on my tee and also to a white head band I wore. For packing I just rolled up the tee so none came loose. Wore it with black leggings. I also with eye liner drew a spider on my cheek. Super easy and looked pretty good!

We went last year (4 of us) and we each wore t-shirts from the Avengers so were low-key avengers.

Mouseketeers are always cute. I made these for our Halloween cruise on Disney last year. Sadly we never got to wear them since the costume party was during our excursion to Atlantis!

DD has dressed up as a black cat the last 3 years we've gone to the party (she loves it :p). Black shirt, black yoga pants, ears, tail. I got the tail, ears and face crayons (for whiskers and nose) at Walmart.

DH and I just wear regular clothes, or costume tshirts. Last time we went I dressed as Kiki (from Kiki's Delivery Service), DD was her cat Jiji, and DH was Tombo - all easy costumes with stuff found in our closets or cheap to buy (just DH's shirt).

This year she wants to go as Boo and I will be Sully ;)

Boo is a super easy costume. Woody, Jesse, Aristocats would be easy ones as well.

Edit - I just remembered DH and I dressed up another time. I went as a Jungle Cruise skipper and DH was a tourist - he got so many compliments! I went to the thrift store and found a pith hat (for myself), a super loud Hawaiian shirt and a huge fanny pack for DH. He then wore his Birkenstocks with tube socks, and a hat with flaps on back.

We went on Halloween last year - it was day 2 of a 4 day DL trip (7 day trip overall) - and we are from out of town and flew. My kids are 6, 4, and 2 so it's a little different, but I just packed her Moana dress, for 4yo son a cheap shark outfit and a hula skirt for sharkhead Maui, and 2yo I made a hei hei costume but it was all fabric and easily packed. Anyway, there are going to be CRAZY costumes there, and also people who don't dress up, so it's whatever you have room for. If your daughters are old enough (they probably are...) that they don't typically dress up at DL, I'd probably bag the costumes myself and wear a witch hat or something. haha.

Sorry the picture is not great.
My mom was ursula, my daughter was little mermaid, my niece was Sebastian and I was flounder :) Super easy, but suttle and easy to pack.

We've done 101 dalmatians which were easy too. Just a white t-shirt and painted black spots all over and put a head band with ears on.
