Low crowds

Is there a time of year that most of the rides are open but crowds are low? For our next trip (2014 most likely... yes, that's right, I'm starting to plan already!), my hubby wants to go to DLR with low crowds, but I don't want to miss a bunch of rides that might be down for refurbs. I went in 1999 in February, and Splash was down for refurb and it was devastating to me lol.

My favorite time to go is the week after Thanksgiving! We went Wed - Sat two years ago. Wed, Thurs, and most of Friday was great - most rides had very short lines. Friday late afternoon and Saturday got more and more crowded because that weekend was the Candlelight Processional. We wanted to make sure our trip was tied to a weekend so we could see the fireworks and parade. We left Saturday afternoon. We also liked going that week because Disney at Christmas is magical!

That's the trade off...slow times equal refurb. Our favorite time to go is before or after MLK day in January. We LOVE going during slow periods. The hours are shorter, but you can do so much more that the time is more than enough. Night time entertainment is reduced to weekends, except for WOC.

You can't have it both ways. Sorry.

IMO the best month to balance everything you mentioned is May. But you will still have refurbs. They will likely be minimal but one never knows. If you have a 4+ day trip you are better able to work around the short 2-3 day refurbs that can happen.

Same here..January..or November not around Thanksgiving. Stuff is down but it is so worth going anyway. We make sure and have a weekend night in there since Fantasmic will only show on the weekends during that time and in we go in January know that HM or SW will be down to remove holiday overlay. Both are really wonderful times to be in the parks.

We went mid week during the last week of April and it was great. The crowds were low. I think we missed two rides because of refurbs but the short lines make missing a couple worth it. I think the longest we waited for anything was 15 minutes. I think the very end of April/beginning of May is a good trade off for low crowds and only a few things closed. My went the first week of March right before spring break and he said it was empty. There were more things down when he visited though.
