Ok..my cholesterol was a little high on my last check-up, so I have really been trying to watch what I eat so I don't have to go on medication. looking at the menus, it looks like it is really going to be hard, especially for cs. Any low cholesterol suggestions?? What do you do for snacks/breakfast. I don't like fruit, so... (I have not made the same mistake with my own children. They normally eat a banana, or orange or apple every day and many time several of those. If they are hungry at night, that is what they eat... As for me... if it isn't in a pie, I don't want it. Too sour and I don't like the texture of most fruits.. I do like veggies, though.

I would try to up the fiber intake in your diet, starting with a high fiber breakfast cereal with skim milk, whole wheat pasta instead of white and the same for bread. Bakes sweet potatoes instead of white, I do them in the microwave most times.

Try adding flax seeds and flax seed oil to your diet, the oil can be found in health food stores in a capsule form and will most likely need to be kept in the fridge.

Excercise is a great way to help. Diet changes can help a lot, it is a little harder if the problem is genetic.

If going to the world, check with the chefs about better choices for your meals.

I have been buying whole grain/whole wheat with lots of fiber in it. I look at fat grams and have found bagels, bread, tortillas that have one gram or less in fat and full of fiber. I'm also eating oatmeal a lot. Just the simple changes I have made have helped me to lose 10 pounds since the first of the year and I haven't really been dieting just substituting. For lunch I often make a wrap with lots of lettuce, mushrooms, carrots, and just a little turkey. Reading labels has really helped. I'm just not sure the wraps at Disney are quite as healthy. Now about the exercise... I'm afraid I have never done that. However, I took dance for 8 years and then at Baylor I was the skinniest I've ever been (size 2) just from walking around. I'm still not sedentary. I live on 50 acres and we do a lot of outside work. I wore a pedometer for a while and I normally take 15,000 to 20,000 steps a day around here. But I should probably do something to get my heart rate up.

Christine,
I wouldn't overly worry about this. My dad who has cholesterol will be going to WDW with us this summer too. I found that most restaurants always have lighter fares for their patrons. I am happy that there are plenty of "salmon" and "chicken" dishes. Quite healthy if I must say so.

When we go down no matter with/without the dining plan and to be honest no matter where we go to eat we always will request, nothing cooked/grilled with oil, etc. Veggies steamed no butter/oil, salad dressing low fat/fat free on side, etc. You'll have no problem at all. Enjoy!
