Started this yesterday as a way for folks to get ideas on menu planning following Atkins or any other low carb eating plan. So share your menus for the day (or post Yesterday's actuals if you have not preplanned the day) so that others can get ideas on how to vary their eating - and enjoy the abundance that is LOW CARB!

Atkins OWL

B - 1 serving of flaxomeal hot cereal, 1 EAS carb control shake and 2 large mugs of black coffee

S - 1/2 cup of yogurt cheese with 1 pkt of splenda to sweeten

L - 3 ounces of roast beef (leftovers) and 1 cup of steamed brocolli with a pat of butter and salt

S - 1/4 cup of whole raw almonds

D - 1/2 of a large roasted chicken breast, italian zuchinni (1 cup of sliced zuchinni sauteed in 1 TBS of olive oil until tender and slightly browned, then toss in 1/4 cup of diced fresh tomatoes and cook until just collapsing. Season with italian seasoning, salt, and some garlic powder - serve and top with freshly grated parmesan)

Put into fitday this provides net carbs of 30 (with a good amount of fiber) and calories of 1,201.

I went out and bought my food, but it just goes to show that you CAN eat out and be on a weight loss program! Also, these things could easily be made at home... (btw, I'm not on Atkins, but my program is similar in that I'm not allowed starches for several weeks...the major difference is that I can eat fruits and quite a bit of veggies, and lean proteins)

Breakfast:
1/2 a meal replacement bar
coffee (I use a vanilla protein shake as a sweetener and creamer)

Lunch:
Grilled Ahi on a bed of cabbage
tossed salad
(this is usually served with rice, but I tell them to hold it)

Dinner:
[I pre-bought dinner because I have to stay at work late for a meeting]
Greek salad consisting of romaine lettuce, feta cheese, a few kalamata olives, a slice of red pepper, round onion, and tomato with an olive oil and vinegar type dressing.

I have snacks after each meal consisting of either 1/2 a protein bar, or a protein shake.
