That's it. Tonight is the last night. The house is barren, the dogs confused, it's just... empty. Were it not for my happy pills I'd be pretty emotional right now :(

Saying a prayer that your new home will feel like home very quickly :-).

My DS and his dog are feeling the same way right now. The moving truck arrives here to begin hauling stuff out at 9:00 am. Onward!!

best wishes to all going through this.

i personally think this can be the best time of year to make one of these moves. we've done a couple of moves to new homes and the one i found the easiest emotionally was during the fall b/c all the stuff that i normally would have stored away for decorating/family gathering ended up being kept out to used immediatly or soon. i found that handling and putting up decorations that i already had an emotional attachment to, finding new places and ways to display/arrange them in the new place seemed to help me mesh the good memories of the old place in kind of a bonding exercise with the new.

Our house is on market. We have a new place already bought. Less than one third size of our current monster house. I can’t wait to move and get out from under the taxes, the landscaping, the utilities, the home insurance, the frequent repairs for 150 year old house. My husband is resigned but not thrilled mainly because he has to give up a lot of his treasured art and collectibles and he won’t be able to have a 10 ft Christmas tree anymore. Our disabled adult daughter who has never lived anywhere else is mad, and sad, but she will have a nice room and bathroom and it’s in a great location . And the cats will adjust, find their litter box and wonder where all the stairs went and all the space they had to run around.

I may or nay not shed a tear when we leave. But my husband will because he is way more sentimental than me.

This is so relatable. I love to simplify and get rid of things that we no longer use/need it feels like a stress release to lighten the load. DH though, is so sentimental. He once accused me of being hard hearted and without sentimentality. To which I replied, “You’re still here.”😉

Second night in the new house and the dogs, whilst acclimatised for the main part, won't sleep on their own; Tillie in particular won't come out of her "little house" and just bark until we come downstairs and sleep near them. Thing is, if they get used to THAT there's no turning back, so where's the roof on this thing?
