I don't understand the negative reviews. We are just back from our DCL & WDW vacation.
I don' t normally write trip reviews but I needed to get my feedback on Dream out there for those that, like myself, are worried that the Dream wouldn't live up to our expectations.

We are a family of 4, DH (50), DS(20), DD(17+) and me of course. We have taken 17 cruises now including 4 other DCL ones, RCL, Carnival and Princess.

We had an absolutely great time! Loved every minute on the cruise. Only real negative we found was that 4 days is not enough time. We don't want to do 4 days again, we need 7.

Here are some other briefs:
This was the cruise right after Irene. We were not sure if we were going to stop in Castaway Cay or Nassau due to the storm damage. We stopped at both and everything was fine. The only change was that we did a sea day before Castaway Cay.

Embarkation was a breeze. We rented a car in Disney and we arrived at the pier at Noon. My DH & DS dropped us of with the luggage and went to return the car. We were told that we could go ahead and check in and they would just need photo id to get into the terminal. My DD and I went to the Castaway Club line, no wait, and checked in. Although we received all 4 cards, we were reminded that my husband and son would have to have their picture taken on the gangway. We were done in less than 5 minutes. We waited for about 15 for the guys and then when they texted that they were on their way up, we went over to the line to take a picture with Mickey. They joined us on line and we took our picture with Mickey. Next we headed over to the gangway again, no line. My DH & DS were asked to step into a small room where they took their ID again and their picture. They were done in less than 3 minutes. That's it! We were on the ship!

Rooms- We had 2 aft rooms,6688 & 6690. Huge Balconies! Yes the flag does obstruct the view in room 6690 when in port. At sea it was fine. Loved the rooms.

Food- We are foodies and we loved the food. Everyone has different tastes. We like to try different things. There were several appetizing options each night and we thought the flavors were spot on. We ate at Enchanted Gardens, Animators Palate and Royal Palace.
Our waiters were not the best. With that said, they were accommodating and we never had to wait for our food. Our server was just okay. She wasn’t the greatest but our orders were always correct and brought out in a timely manner. No complaints, just not Wow. The Assistant Server was a bit slow with getting our drinks and a bit unorganized. He had to be reminded to get drinks and sometimes he forgot altogether.
The Head Server was very good on this cruise. I think he knew that our servers didn’t have their act together because he would often bring us our drinks or clear our plates.
He was very good.

Remy’s- DH and I went to Remy’s on the 3rd night. The kids went to Royal Palace that night which was also Pirate Night. We went to Royal Palace the next night.
We did Remy’s with the Wine Pairing. DH ordered the American menu and I ordered the French. We loved it! It was definitely worth it for us. Our dinner was 2.5 hours.

AquaDuck was fun. We waited 20 minutes on our Sea Day. There were other times when there was no line. It was also open at night which was a great time for adults to go on with no line.

Adult Pool- Yes it would be great if the pool was bigger and the elevator opens up to that area. That is a mistake that I hope Disney corrects. The adult area itself is very nice and quite large. We didn’t have trouble finding chairs and bar service was good.
The Adult Areas including the lounges were all very nice.

Room Service-Kids ordered Room Service late night, every-night and didn’t have any complaints.

Room Steward- Never saw him but the rooms were impeccable.

Debarkation was a breeze. Kids went to breakfast at 8am while we collected everything from the rooms. DH went up to cabanas and brought us down coffee and bagels. When the kids returned from breakfast we went down and out. Lines moved smoothly, luggage was easy to find and we were renting our car by 9:30.

This was probably one of our favorite cruises. It just needed to be 7 days!
The ship is beautiful and the service was better than most.

If you are worried about your upcoming cruise, don’t be. Just go with an open-mind, leave critical and negative thinking at the pier and enjoy your cruise!

Here are some pictures of the balcony. Hope it works.

I totally agree that a 4 day just isn't enough time. It needs to be a 7 day. That said, I'm breaking my own rule to go on the 4 night DVC member cruise next week. I'll be thinking of your trip report while I'm there. Thanks for the very balanced assessment of your experience. It was helpful information.

So happy to hear that you had a good time. Based on several Dream reviews I have been a little nervous about or trip next month. Our time spent on the Wonder and Magic has been some of the best ever for our family and I didn't want to be let down. Regarding your 4 night comment: we will be going for only three this time. Bringing along a bunch of family for a celebration and needed to fit 3 cabins into the budget.

Thanks! Very happy to hear a good review! I feel certain that we'll have a good time :)

Thanks for sharing. It's good to hear that fellow foodies enjoyed the restaurants!

I am so glad that you posted, MEGADAN! We have room 6690 for the June 24, 2012 sailing! It's great to hear that you liked the room and verandah, even with the flag issue! Any other info you could give me on that room would be very much appreciated! Glad to hear you had a great trip!

Thank you so much for sharing. It sounds like you had a great time. I appreciate you taking the time to write the review!

Thanks for posting - it is great to hear postive comments - we agree that 4 nights are not enough - we are doing a b2b in november to get our 7 nights :cool1:

Skating mom, we enjoyed the room and the large balcony. I will post some pictures. We didn't feel a lot of movement but you do feel it when the ship is coming into the ports. It was our wake up call.
It is a bit of a distance to walk go get to the shows, especially when you are running late but we found that it was easily accessible to everything else. We would either walk to the midship or fwd elevators by walking straight across deck 6 or we would walk down to deck 4 and then walk across on the lovely outside deck which takes you from one side of the ship to the other.
Enjoy your cruise.

Great review and so glad you guys had a great time! :thumbsup2

We have 6188 for our June 2012 cruise and if I remember correctly it is the same as 6688. I'm glad you didn't feel too much motion except docking which is to be expected!

Strange question out of curiosity - where was your muster station located? Inside or outside?

I, too, would love to see pictures! ;)

Thanks
Heather

I was on the 8/28 cruise as well. We are a family of four, and we were on the Wonder 2 years ago. This trip was fantastic, especially after all of the stress about whether or not we would get there on Saturday with Irene. We were also certain that CC would be closed, so it was a tremendous bonus when they announced we would be there on the last day. Love the ship -- lots of places to explore, and we took the Aquaduck about 10 times. The key to our trip was staying off the main deck area during prime time in the afternoons. We used that time to see a movie, play some games in the lounges, or just explore the ship. We hit the main deck pools in the morning of Nassau day or after first seating dinners.

We have 7689 and 7688 on the Fantasy next fall. How was the inside cabin? Could it sleep 4? Did the balcony have lounge chairs? Please post pictures and write a review. Thanks!

Thank you for the awesome posting because i am concerned about our May sailing. I do have a question for you? Was the ship sold out? was it full or do you think since school has just started it was not as busy as it might normally might be?

Thx.

Just wondering did you 20 year old do the college club thing? and if so, did they like it? What did the do?

We are going with three 18 year olds this year and not sure what to expect.
Thanks!

I love to hear the positive reviews, its surprising how on the same cruise there can be such differing opinions.I would like asked if you could comment more about the general weather in August. I was glad you were able to go to CC. I was more concerned about the humidity and heat. I will be cruising in Aug. 2012

Heather our muster station was inside. It was in one of the adult lounges on 4. We had 2 rooms and I was upset when I noticed that 1 room was muster station O and the other was P. It turns out that O & P are in the same lounge, just different sides of the room.
I asked a CM if in the event of an emergency would our family be separated and she said no. We would be put together in one section.

Conchflats we usually cruise in late August because the crowds are smaller and most kids are back in school. We enjoy the beach activities on our caribbean cruises so the weather never feels too hot. With that said, we found the weather in WDW to be extremely hot & humid.

Greatfalls before we left for the cruise I was stressing over the cruise being cancelled due to Irene, then it seemed like it would sail but we had no idea where it would go if CC and Nassau were closed. Turns out the weather was perfect and my only worry was our home in NJ. Luckily, once we left on Sunday my Blackberry was turned off and I stopped worrying.
We stayed away from the main pool except when we went to get those tasty panninis they served.
I'm glad you enjoyed the cruise too! We can't wait to do a 7day on the Fantasy.

Georgia3 our rooms were both balconies, 6688 & 6690. They balcony was huge but all it had was 2 chairs and a small table. No lounge chairs even though there was plenty of room for them.
