I attended a conference at the Hyatt Huntington Beach. The resort was incredible, the staff was amazing and the food was delicious.

The beaches were dreamy. They were non-smoking (wow!), clean and super friendly! It was just like the movies...young kids playing football around a bonfire! Beach volleyball tour!

Just wanted to say to any Huntington Beach residents, "Wow...what a great place and can't wait to return!"

Kudos!

We are planning 3 nights at one of the beaches in October. Was the hotel far from the beach? walkable? Any other activities to do around the area? Thanks!

That place looks amazing! I think that may be where we are going to stay! It said there is waterslides there into the pool? My kids would love that! Thanks for posting!

One of the best/unique things about Huntington Beach is there is really no development on the beach side of Pacific Coast Highway (the few things there were grandfathered in a long time ago). The Hyatt is just across the street from the beach and even has a pedestrian walkway over PCH. It's about as close to the beach as you'll get in HB.

Driving down PCH with a great view and smelling the salt air/bonfire/beach smell is one of my favorite things about going back! Can't wait until next month ...

Gotta say we love living here. Glad you enjoyed it. My son's middle school has a surf club!

Is there any other places to walk to from the Hyatt? I read somewhere it is near a main street with shops and restaurants. I don't mind just hanging out at the hotel and beach but was wondering about other restaurants and things near by in case we don't rent a car. Thanks!

Downtown Huntington Beach and the pier are just north of you, about 3/4 of a mile away. There are many restaurants (try the Sugar Shack for breakfast -- yum) and lots of little shops -- some local, some chain.

The International Surfing Museum is downtown. There's a farmer's market with art/souvenirs/food at the base of the pier on Fridays. You can rent poles and fish from the pier.

The best-kept secret is the Tuesday evening Surf City Nights. They shut down Main Street near the pier and have a farmer's market, booths, kids' activities, etc. I don't know if they're still doing it in October or just in the summer.

DH and I just got back from our 3rd trip to HB in 4 years.:thumbsup2
We love the Hyatt. We walked up to town a couple of times a day for breakfast at either Ruby's or the Sugar Shack and then back for dinner.
Duke's is one of our favorite dinner places ever on vacation. But there plenty of options on the main street with various price points.
We left the car the in the hotel gargage the whole time the last 2 trips.
Huntington Beach is a great place :dance3: Hope maybe to go back in the next year or so

They have 2 pool areas one with a small water slide:thumbsup2
I believe the Hyatt has some sort of activity camp for children staying there(for a fee I'm sure;)) The staff for the Summer was training while we were there and they were very friendly
There is also a walkway over the Pacific Coast Hwy so you don't have to worry about traffic when taking the kids to the beach. There are also QS food places along the beach and decent restroom facilities so you don't have to go back to the hotel

The restrooms will obviously be open, but I wouldn't count on the beachside snack bars being open in October.

How much does the hotel charge for parking and what time check-in is? If we arrive around noon but check in will be later, can we still get a parking pass before we check in? Also, if we are checking out the next day, do we have to pay for parking for both days?

I think I'm going to bid on priceline and try to get this hotel. Several people have gotten excellent prices for this place via priceline. However, there's a risk we may end up at the Newport Beach Hyatt instead.

We arrived around 12:00 and went ahead and parked the car.I think check in was 3:00 but our :thumbsup2 rooms were ready when we arrived.Since they usually have conferences/events going on, the parking was valet on our 3 visits. If you don't already join Hyatt's reward program it's free and may help with early check in if rooms are available.
I think parking costs ran about $25.00.The hotel does have packges that include parking
As for paying for an extra day's parking we left by check out time and were only charged based on the number of nights we stayed. If you are staying much past checkout ask at the desk.
We got some good deals via Hyatt's website for this hotel. It may be more than Priceline but at least you know you will be staying in Huntington Beach:dance3: & not another Hyatt in Orange County:sad2:.

We love living in HB! :cool1:Surf City Nights are the best! Even being "locals", we frequent Main St. It's hard to decide where we'll eat lunch or dinner..usually Fred's. Sugar Shack is a must for breakfast.
