I requested a nonsmoking room and, if possible, a full balcony when I booked. I also faxed those requests a couple of days before checkin. Got a smoking room and small balcony. Also had requested a refrigerator when I booked and I thought I had already paid for that, but no refrigerator either. But I read somewhere that you have to request a refrigerator at checkin and since it was coolish, at checkin I didn't really care whether we had one or not. But thought they would ask or mention it when we checked in since on booking I had requested a refrigerator. I thought all the rooms had safes, but we didn't have a safe, either.

The carpet was stained, the walls had stains, there was mold in the shower and there was dirt around the edges of the walls. The bedspreads were worn and shabby. DH was upset that they didn't change the sheets the entire time we were there (five nights - and he checked every day). I didn't care so much about that - as long as they changed them before we got there!

Looking back I wish I had gone back and said we really did need a nonsmoking room and requested to be changed. The rest of the stuff - well, I expected much more for the amount of $$ we were spending and I probably should have said something, but I didn't.

Other than our room and the fact that only four out of eight dryers in the laundry room were working (and of the four working, only two worked really well), the resort was nice. The lobby was beautiful, the people were nice and helpful and friendly, and we loved the location of the resort - walking distance to the Boardwalk and Epcot and just a short boat ride to MGM.

We rented a car but could have easily done without it. The bus service at the Beach Club was excellent and we found it so much easier to ride the bus than to drive anywhere. We never had to wait long at all for a bus, either at the Beach Club or at any of the parks.

We were on the 4th floor. I guess the lower floors have been renovated. Our room sure could have used a renovation!

Sorry your room wasn't what you expected but glad you still had a good time.

I would have definitely gone back and asked for a different room, especially as some rooms have been re-done already.

Refrigerators are on request only but even though we have requested one on our reservation we have always had to ask for it again at check in.

hmmm on the safes. I thought all rooms had safes also.

Just wondering where your room was located. Did you like the location. Were you in standard room. How did you like the pool? We are going in May and staying at AKL. We are thinking of staying here for half of the trip. thanks...amy

We were in room 4596. It was a standard view - mostly trees/flowers/other BC rooms. There was a small pool and hot tub and then there was Storm Along Bay - much bigger and more going on. Both were fine.

I think by the time you are there renovations will probably be done, so I don't think you have anything to worry about. The rooms should all be fine after they are renovated. I saw some pictures in another post of the renovated rooms and they were very nice. I think I just got a room that was really ready for renovation, but not yet renovated!

We were at the BC in August, room 4106 I think. Our room was very much like yours. The walls stained, wallpaper coming off the wall, mold ALL over the shower area, the sink area dirty, etc. I did write a letter to guest communications and received a complimentary night at the YC. I would write if I were you. You paid good $ and you didn't receive what you thought you should. In hindsight, I should have complained when we were there. I just didn't. That will NEVER happen again..... Good luck.

We were in a BC waterview concierge room at Thanksgiving and it was awful. It was absolutely the smallest room I have been in, ever! We were in a room over the main entrance on the lake side. Double beds...not queen. We had to physically move the table and chairs to get to the balcony, and the only place to move them was between the armoire and the beds. It was ridiculous. Also, we could not see one drop of water let alone a piece of the lake because of the trees. The room wasn't in bad shape, concierge service was good, the hotel and pool were great, but the room spoiled it. There were two adults and three teens and they knew this. Why would they put us in such a small room? When we finally moved to the Poly, we thought we died and went to heaven! BC...never again!

Oh yes, soccer mom! I was going to mention the table and chairs too! We also could not get to the balcony without moving the table and chairs. I saw pictures of the renovated rooms and instead of having the table and chairs right in front of the balcony, it is just sort of a half table and one chair connected to the wall next to the head of the bed. That would be better, I think. But yes, we had to move the table and chairs to open the blinds and to open the door to the balcony.

I don't know if there are bigger rooms also at the Beach Club, or if they are all that size, but it sounds like your room was just like ours space wise! We also had two adults and three teenagers.

They had the table attached to the wall in the old rooms as well. We had that in the summer. We also had 2 double beds but had plenty of space to get out to the balcony. Our balcony was fullsize and a standard view. The chairs out there were filthy as well. If the room had been clean, the size would have been ok for 2 adults and 3 young kids.

Non-smokers should never accept a smoking room!!! Speak up for yourself, you are the customer!!

If you loved the area, try the BWI next time. We had a lovely, refurbished room there that was spacious and clean. Our housekeeper was wonderful.

Better luck next time.:D

Are these rooms similar to the BC Concierge? Is the concierge service similar to the BC Conciere?

We were in a renovated room at the YC on our last trip and it was beautiful. :) I'm sorry you got stuck with an old room... next time speak up! The squeaky wheel gets the grease! LOL ;)

The Yacht club and Beach Club share the same concierge staff and have the same type of food offerings.
