Okay I have heard a little about them but have never traveled to WDW while they are out in force. I have seen the picture of the bus stop - is it really that bad?

DD and I will be there May 4th to the 10th. Are the lovebugs out during this time? What are they exactly? Do they bother you?

I am asking this because my dd has a serious issue with bugs:scared1: . Lizards and small animals she can handle like a pro (good thing too since we live in Southern CA with a lot of lizards!! LOL!!) but bugs are a different story.

Thanks in advance for any information!!!

We will be there May 5 to the 13 and I'm hoping that they aren't as bad this year.We went last year from the 4th to the 11th and they were out but the may before that they were not....they aren't that bad at all they just fly around two at the time with thier butt's together. They look like lightning bugs but without the little light on thier butt.

They can be irritating but they don't hurt you and I don't think they are scary looking at all..probably because I like lightning bugs and thats what they remind me of.

Lovebugs won't hurt you or anything, but they might bump into you. The thing about love bugs is that you usually see them in pairs and they are busy doing what they are named for, so they might bump into you. I have to laugh when I hear a guest say "Look! A bug with 4 eyes!" They kinda look like mosquitos. They don't look scary or anything. When I was at WDW last May, they weren't too bad.

They are HORRIFIC for your car though. When I get back from WDW, I hose down my car because the lovebugs are a pain to clean off.

HAHA yeah they are!!!!!! We saw a bunch of cars covered with them lol.:scared1:

Thanks for the info! Do they go about in large groups of pairs? I think dd can handle them in small does but if they are everywhere she may get too flipped out about them to enjoy herself. I know it will bother her if they bump into her - even if they don't hurt - she just has a very large fear of bugs. Are they large or small?

We went to WDW in Sept 2007 when they were out in full force, they are harmless little critters thought. They are smaller than a bumble bee.

I really hate bugs to the point where I run away from spiders and all sorts :D these things are attracted to white bright colours, where theres one there will be another but not like a swarm. When I saw one or a few I just kept well away, my DB was great he usually stood in front of me so I couldn't see them (bless).

Hope you have a fab time :)

Thanks! Here's hoping that they are not out in full force when we go!!! I think dd can handle it if she has space to move.

we were also there in september 2007 and they were awful, just everywhere - benches at the bus stops were covered completely

we were there last May and they were horrendous! They would fly in our hair, on our stroller, in our food, anywhere really! And I know they don't hurt you, but they are gross and there are just so many of them!!!! It was disgusting, but we didn't let them ruin our vacation. As I say, a bad day at Disney with lovebugs beats a good day at work anytime!! LOL (really, is there such a thing as a "bad day at Disney"????)

I have been 6 times the first two weeks of May. One year I don't remember seeing them. A few times they were around but not tons, I mostly remember seeing them at our resort. One year there were more than usual and at the bus stop it looked not quite as bad as this. http://www.flickr.com/photos/16646828@N00/515170575/
but it was not like that at the parks.
