Is there anything out there that would keep those pesky love bugs from flying around you? I read somewhere that Avon skin so soft deters mosquitos...is there anything like that for love bugs?
Okay...you can stop laughing now..:lmao: ...I'm serious!!
We don't have love bugs in Texas...except maybe the two legged kind!
Barb

i hear you. my 2 yo dd is scared of love bugs we were at walmart and there was one on our buggy and she started freaking out!!!

I read on another thread someone using the skin so soft for the love bugs too and found it effective.

We live in Louisiana and they are bad here. U just have to deal with them. (nasty little buggers) they just fly they don't bite or sting. Just annoying

Let me know if you find one: I have lived here my whole life and haven't found anything! :lmao:

Seriously, they are a nuisance more than anything, especially on the car, where they can damage the paint. They do not bite or sting.

They do seem to like light colors and damp places, but I don't think you can do anything to keep them away.

Don't wear white. It attracts them. The front door of my house is white. It is always covered with them.

In a lot of cases, they seem to just be floating on the breeze, not really going anywhere specific, so I don't think there is anything that would actually repel them.
My MIL wears Skin So Soft all the time and she gets just as many on her while we are in Florida during Love Bug season as anyone else.

LOL, one in spring, the other is in Sept. It's really not that bad. There are those of us who live with them!

Here is some info about bugs in florida ..love bug mosquitos ( the state bird ) and noseeums . I have lived here my whole life ~ put some rain-x or wax on your windshield and ehadlights use a plastic mesh scrubby and some bug and tar remover to remove the pesky critters. but do NOT and i repeate do NOT use your wipers/washers because Love bugs smear REALLY badly. I hope that this helps. http://goflorida.about.com/cs/planningyourtrip/a/bugs.htm

Just wanted to tell anyone who is going in the next few weeks, the Lovebugs are starting to appear again. I noticed one (and only one) at the MK this weekend. It begins again.....

Ick!!!! Are there alot in FL?

Yipper, when it's the season for them to.........well, do what love bugs do! they are kinda all over, but they won't be a bother other than you'll swat at them every so often and that's about it. You'll be just fine, my dd8 kinda freaked at first but realized they wouldn't hurt her and then she was just irritated by them. When your in the shade or if there is a breeze your good to go, they don't seem to bother you too much, but then again we were in FL towards the end of the month (May). So I don't know what they do any other time. :confused3

We're going back this year for the 'same week' as we went last year (mid/late-September) and I don't recall any real lovebug issues in the Parks. Now, we slaughtered a boat-load on the drive home, but I can live with that! :rotfl:

September 2006 Love Bugs were out in full force! They were everywhere. No, they do not bite or sting but, they stick to everything. That year you could not go anywhere without dealing with them. We would come out of rides and the stroller would be covered in them. Then my poor daughter would freak. She was only 3. After two days of them we started leaving a poncho over the stroller at all times in the parks. Even the CM's said they had never seen them that bad in September. We were actually relieved to be going home at the end of that trip.
We swore after that year that we would never go during the prime season again!
Well, we went this past September anyway, and we only saw a few at AK towards the end of our trip.

Ok, just curious, anyone know why they call them lovebugs? They don't sound like anything loveable.:rotfl:
