Whip it good!

I would like to hear more about the children's song writer. I often wonder what ever happened to all of these performers. Are they all lounge singers now?

YOU ARE A CHILD OF THE 80'S IF:

You know what a "burnout" is.
You know what "Sike" means.
You know the profound meaning of "Wax on, Wax off".
You know that another name for a keyboard is a "Synthesizer".
You can name at least half of the members of the elite"Brat Pack".
You know who Tina Yothers is.
You wanted to be a Goonie.
You felt ashamed when Rob Lowe got in trouble for sex with minors and
videotaping it, because you liked him.
You know who Max Headroom is.
You ever wore flourescent, neon if you will, clothing.
You could breakdance, or wish you could.
You wanted to be The Hulk for Halloween.
You Believed that "By the power of Greyskull, you HAD the power!"
Partying "like it's 1999" seemed SO far away.
You thought that Transformers were more than meets the eye.
You wanted to be on StarSearch.
You can remember what Michael Jackson looked like before his nose fell off.
You wore a banana clip at some point during your youth, or knew someone who did.
You owned a doll with 'Xavier Roberts' signed on it's ***,or knew someone who did.
You knew what Willis was "talkin' 'bout".
You HAD to have your MTV
You hold a special place in your heart for "Back to the Future".
You know where to go if you "wanna go where everybody knows your name".
You thought Molly Ringwald was REALLY cool.
You actually thought "Dirty Dancing" was a REALLY good movie.
You heard of Garbage Pail Kids.
You knew "The Artist" when he was humbly called"Prince".
You actually saw Ted Danson as the MacDaddy he played "Sam" to be.
You remember when ATARI was a state of the art video game system.
You own any cassettes.
You were led to believe that in the year 2000 we'd all be living on the moon.
You remember And/or own any of the CareBear Glass collection from Pizza Hut.
Or any other stupid collection they came out with.
Poltergeist freaked you out.
You carried you lunch to school in a Gremlins or an ET lunchbox.
You have ever pondered why Smurfette was the ONLY female smurf.
You know what a Doozer is.
You wore biker shorts underneath a short skirt and felt stylish, or knew
someone who did.
You ever had a Swatch Watch.
You had a crush on one of the Coreys (Haim or Feldman), or knew someone who did.
You remember when Saturday Night Live was funny.
You had WonderWoman or Superman underoos.
You know what a "Whammee" is.
You had a crush on Jon Bon Jovi, or knew someone who did.
If you can identify with at least half of this list then you, my friend, are a
"Child of the 80's".

I love this- the whole thing made me smile. :rotfl2:

Wow- I honestly had no idea.

Good job on the research BDR!!

TCD

p.s Sorry for not contributing any photos, but old TCD did not have a camera back in his single days, plus many photos had to be disposed of when Mrs. TCD came along 20+ years ago. But . . . , I did come across something interesting, which I will scan either this evening or tomorrow. It is a scrapbook page from Mrs. TCD's Grad Night at WDW in . . . . 1982. One of the big musical guests was . . . . Bertie Higgins! Oy! Sailing Away to Key Largo! But- there are a couple of good photos- including Mrs. TCD's BFF in a Olivia Newton John Let's Get Physical headband. I think you will like!

In true TCD style...he sets the stage, and peaks our interest....and then says
"All that and MORE.............................................right after these words from our sponsors!!!"

TCD....you are the man!!

Oh...and I dont deserve any research credit...thats copied and pasted straight off the net!!!

Who are these mop-heads? They were most likely the only 4 people in the world who thought they fit into the heavymetal catagory...the lead singer was professionally trained in classic ballet, and it was VERY obvious that he had stock in teeth whitening products...and, NO...the one on the left is NOT Val Kilmer!!!
winger.jpg

Wow...I had completely forgotten that Winger ever existed...and I was much happier that way! :lmao:

Seriously, though, I never realized just how much that guy looks like Val Kilmer. He really does!:scared1:

LOL...yeah...the world would have spun right along without Winger...but they planted themselves in our history anyway!!

Actually, the song "She's only seventeen" wasnt too bad...but a far cry from metal.

Well done Tricia!!!

Well.....would ya look at the he-man poses being struck here!!!!!
Another band that the world would never have missed if they didnt really exist...but they sure shoved em down our throats on MTV every hour or so....geeez......I never thought they were "totally awesome" even THEN....but when I look at them now...I have to ask myself why the hell did I watch so much MTV, I guess I was too stoned to get up and change the channel.....I was definately too stoned to know where the remote control was!!!

Any one care to admit to knowing who these girls are?

And the award for knowing the gender bender band goes to.......

Gatahdude!!!! Im surprised, Pete...had you pegged more for ZZ Top and Foreigner.

Im expecting you to know this before anyone else, Pete...admitedly, this was just before the 80s....but anyway......

Many years since I was here
On the street I was passin' my time away
To the left and to the right, buildings towering to the sky
And it's outta sight in the dead of night
Here I am and in this city
With a fistfull of dollars
And baby, you'd better believe

I'm back, back in the ...insert title here...
I'm back, back in the ...insert title here...
I'm back, back in the ...insert title here...
Back in the ...insert title here...

In the back of my Cadillac
A wicked lady, sittin' by my side, sayin' "Where are we?"
Stop at Third and Forty-Three, exit to the night
It's gonna be ecstacy, this place was meant for me

and the chorus repeats here, and so on, etc

Now you're talkin' MY stuff. I'm back, back in the New York Groove. Kiss??? I can hear the song in my head.

At first I thought Aerosmith...but I don't thinks that's right. Kiss...yeah...that's it.

You had a TV with a REMOTE in the 80's?

I still remember VCRs with remotes that were permanently connected to the box with a tether! I wonder how many times I tripped over that thing.

I also had a friend who rolled the dice and put all his money into an expensive BetaMax VCR and started his library of vid's in BetaMax.

You had a TV with a REMOTE in the 80's?

I know I'm really dating myself here, but we had a Westinghouse B&W TV back in the early 60's with a remote control. The only problem with it was that every time our beagle stopped in front of the TV to scratch his ear & then shake his head....the choke collar changed the channel!!
