Love Target-Returned iPod/$20gc got Ipod/$40gc

Hi all! I bought two 8G iPod Touch on the Friday before Thanksgiving from Target. At the time, they were giving the $20 Target gift card with purchase. I knew that they were offering the $40 gift card on Black Friday but I wouldn't be near a Target and didn't want to fight the crowds. Last Thursday, I actually opened both of the iPods, looked at them, but did not even turn them on. I also still hadn't spent the two $20 gift cards.

After seeing the ad for this week, I started wondering if I could return the two I bought along with the gift cards, and purchase them again so that I could get the extra $40 in gift cards.

I just went on my lunch break and it worked! I went in and told the whole truth of what I was trying to do. The girl at Guest Services had to call over a Manager and he approved it.

I was able to print out two more 10% off coupons at work and I got the 5% off for using my Target Debit Card. I returned the two and then bought the same two back again.

My total Target gift card accumulations is now at $120.
$40 iPod Touch, $40 iPod Touch, $10 spend $50, $10 spend $50,
$10 spend $75, $10 spend $75
3 of my transactions were for Gift Cards that were already on my list to buy. The other 3 were for items that were on my list to buy!

Did I mention that I love Target??!!! Now, what do I buy for myself with the $120?

Target Corp is a marketing genius!

They know how to get you in the store to shop and also to return.

I know I spent a lot more holiday shopping dollars at target instead of walmart this year due to the gift card deals.

I bought my daughter one when they had only a $20 gift card and have already used the gift card. I wonder if I could return it and get the additional $20 gift card beings I already used the other one?

No. Once you use the gift card you can no longer return it.

When you return it, they will adjust the refund price by the $20 gift card. Let's say you paid $170. Once you return it, you will only get $150 back. Now you have to repurchase it for the $170 again. So you will end up spending an additional $20 in order to get the $40 gift card.

If you bought it originally without the 10% off coupon or 5% off using Target debit or credit card, then you could use those with this purchase and it may be worth your while.
